You know that, I know that, everyone who played ME2 knows that. But in ME universe only Shepard and the Geth know that. The rest of the galaxy thinks that there are no sub-factions to the Geth. That they are "uniform in mind and purpose". And since some of them are attacking, and the rest do not try to make contact, everyone assumes that all of them want to wipe out the organics.
That's the problem. Everyone just "assumes" that all geth are evil. Thats like assuming everyone in 1 country is evil because a small sect of the country is a terrorist group.

Actually Legion does make threats towards Tali. This occurs when the two square off after the loyalty missions and, due to my running Renegade and not having enough points for the advanced option, I sided with Tali. Basically he says that after the Old Machines are destroyed, the 'Creators will answer for their crimes against Geth.'
Not that any of that means much. Heretic subset or not, Geth have been attacking and killing organics for centuries so it's understandable, if no less racist. Kind of like the Krogan hating Turians on principal for the Genophage despite it being only a tiny minority that dropped it. (So far as I understand, the Krogan don't know it was Salarians who developed it)
Only the Geth Heretics have been attacking. And Legion makes threats because Tali makes threats. Tali opens with hostilities, so Legion responds with hostilities. Legion states that the Geth are open to peace, no one bothers to ask.
I chose the paragon option, and shepard states that Legion and Tali should both quit fighting and try getting along, the result is that Tali lets Legion send some data about the Quarians to the Geth that aren't attacking.
Legion is open to peace, but won't just let a possible attack on his people go without letting his people know about it.
