This will probably be dismissed but the last time I joined a new message board I got outright ignored because people said I was clearly an ex-member who had been banned. There wasn't a particular ex-member they had in mind (it was a massive board) it was just that apparently my formatting and general style wasn't newbie enough. Using paragraph breaks and terms like "OP" blacklisted me. I pointed out that I had been a member of other message boards but I wasn't to be trusted.
I doubt you'll be dismissed for things like that here. I mean, most of us I believe were parts of other boards first. We all drift here in the end, and we like it when newer members actually write well though opinions. I just struggle with those who are newer and don't really add much/I vehemently disagree with, especially when written in an inflammatory manner.
Indeed, the boards are on the nicer scale of internet forums.

I was joking with the part about being dismissed though.

I'm on the same page. I tend to judge/ignore people with extremely high posts for the same reason as you. I've been a lot more active since last year and I must say, even if I joined a user group, I have no idea how some people get over 10K+ post after a single year. And I even think I spend too much time on this website.

Anyway, it depends on the subject in matter but someone with a really high posts count that gives advice on forum etiquette, then yeah I can see how that would be sound advice.
Dating advice though... :/

I know it's very judgmental of me to think that hey but hey just me 2 cents.
It's important to note that posts in user groups DO impact your overall post count (the one you see under your avatar). If you're in a lot of groups that number can skyrocket overnight. I think roughly 60% if not more of my posts can be attributed to that.

It's funny because every single time I make a statement about me not understanding high post count users and the user groups, someone point out to me that user group post count. :p

Don't worry I know it counts.

It's just that I wonder if people who have over 30k post use cocaine to stay up at night and post in over 30 different user groups X.X

Yeah... that makes sense. In fact, I even think that the escapist is a whole conspiracy (I know you can't get enough conspiracy these days ;) ), I'M now certain this website is a drug addicts recovery website.

In fact, I remember a guy here saying that being quoted is like crack cocaine to them. Talk about proof eh !
B-b-b-but that shiny golden envelop! It's so alluring!

:0 Who the hell do you work for ? A motorcyclist gang ? A street gang ? Xenu ? Obama ?

Yeah I bet it's Obama. Or all these answers 0.0

An Obama-Xenu fusion in a motorcycle street gang. Yeah, everything make sense now...

Fappy.

I know you're upset about the situation.

But you need help.

These quotes notifications... they're not your friend. They'll ruin your life if you keep on like this.

Also your friend... what he is called again... DaySt... Clar-whatever. Is he your dealer ? I bet he is. You need to stay away from him.

Look, if you want we can both go to the local Quote addict meeting and we'll get things sorted out.

You deserve better
Daystar was the one that got me started on the stuff in the first place! It's all his fault! ALL HIS FAULT!

A god has graced us with his presence, fellow escapists. Let us bask in his majesty. Tell us a story of the ancient times, oh merciful lord.

As a new member my views clearly don't count so don't bother reading and move along, move along nothing to see here.....

Yes I signed up because of the whole Zoe Quinn thing, but in an abstract way, reading it lead me to the whole Saarkesian thing, and as someone who's deeply passionate about issues surrounding gender politics of course I jumped in...

New members on busy forums often get a bad rep, thats because, yes, flamers appear, spoof accounts are made and people professionally 'ghost' forums to promote their companies agendas. But shouldn't you at least read the comment and judge from that?

Sure tar me for being new, I'll get over that. But if I've made the effort to craft a post ( I take great care over my words, I'm no writer but it's important to me to be clearly understood to the best of my ability ) dismissing my point or opinion simply because I'm a 'noob' doesn't hurt me, but possibly does a disservice to yourself.

I have a low post count, but that's mainly because I read the forums on my phone and I hate the touchscreen keypad. It's so bloody annoying, I don't know how people get around it. Or maybe my fingers are just too big, I don't know ^^'.
Anyway, I never really felt that way. Maybe it's because I don't really argue with people on the internet and I rarely post anything controversial or anything. I just post something and carry on.

OT: I tend to read everyone's posts. The only posts where I'll have to either focus a bit more or scroll down faster is long posts. 3+ paragraphs and I best be engaged by the second one.

Yes even ones not intended to add anything to the list or to the discussion, sometimes they are fun to read (key word: sometimes).

Somewhat but I can't fully blame them since they're new and all so it's not like they will become popular within a few days or weeks. I suppose I do dimissed more toward those who have no avatar as to me it kind of showing no effect into trying to be part of the forum (come on, it's not hard to picked an avatar).
Granted I tend to dimiss those who purely sign up just to post one thing like the review section on here.

If they have low post count and make low content posts with predictable, hyperbolic, provocative or poorly spelled sentiments or language, then yes, to be honest.

I like it when someone has been around for a while, then I can decide who I want to hear speak or do and don't like.

Perhaps predictably it's the regulars who seem to be the most reasonable, non-reactionary speakers. And that's what I'm looking for. Not a fan of drama.

Even Baffle I recognize immediately and they're a relatively new person here.
I've actually been here since Rift came out, I've just put all my points in Sneak. Which is why I'm shit at pull-ups.
I'm just going to break politeness here and say it's because you are Richard Richard the Virgin Mother.

That's what you are.

I never even think to look at it. Hell, I can barely remember anyone's names here. I just look at the avatars.

Thanks a lot for the kind welcome and well, noticing that my intentions are legit.

Still trying to find my way around here or I would've answered you much sooner.

Thanks again.
