When I went to school, ignorant kids who didn't like it called it satanic. But thats why they will never become important people in society

They're both based in magical fictitious universes, they both have witches, they're both written by Christan authors, and they both teach Christian values. It's just that one is an epic masterpiece and the other is a poorly written, furry biblical allegory.
If you couldn't tell, I like Potter a lot ^_^
I see, but have you read any other of C.S. Lewis's works? The Screwtape Letters and the Great Divorce are very thought provoking.

Sure just go on you-tube and search the comments and eventually you'll find some idiocy. Seriously its like the cesspool of misinformed opinions.
Well you have to remember too that the majority of the shit in the Youtube comment box is written by wanna-be trolls. But you will find some genuine idiocy. The problem that I see here is, from my experience, I don't think the demographics that think metal music is satanic are the kind of people that know how to turn a computer on, much less comment on Youtube.

I have not, no. I didn't realize he had written anything else. I'll go check those out at some point, thanks ^_^

Only from pedantic arseholes, let's be honest. :)
Also you forgot to close your brackets. Also, 'a lot' is two words. Also, it's spelt 'existing'.

Religious-types probably do.

The rest of the uninitiated will just call it noise.
I'm religious and nobody I know who's religious calls it that, lol. (I'm quite fond of some metal, actually)

I think metal's evolved and to some extent so have the opinions, its no longer anything with a guitar, but mainly the 'I can't understand the words' metal with the growling and grunting that's relegated to being the work of the devil.

I'm not knocking it btw, I just think that's where the line tends to get drawn. If you sound possessed, then it's easier to make stereoptypical comparisons.

Metal has taken a bit of a backseat to emo (for causing teens to kill themselves apparently) and heavily screaming based music.

I'm assuming you're talking about classic metal.

Why is it always metal, huh? Why can't punk ever be Satan music?

*pouts*

Sometimes I just wanna get told my music is the music of the devil is all I'm saying.

Like video games have the bad rap of being called murder simulaters, is Metal music still called evil and a threat to people?
Somewhere out there, someone is still probably calling Jazz "the devil's music."
I doubt it.

They'd be calling it "Color music" or something even more terribly racist.

Which is a thought that I can agree with. Only Satan himself could come up with such crap-sounding music. The only time growling and grunting is acceptable is when it's being done for the sake of parody.

Also, OP, please fix your title. Otherwise, you're going to get a lot more smartass comments.

only the devout religious and the ignorant. most people just think it sounds like noise.

Black metal, however, IS satanic for the most part.

Here's some right proper satanic metal.

I think it has gotten to the point where boasting 666 is more of a joke. Just like the stereotypical metal band.

Some fundamentalist Christians still think ANY form of rock music is evil, as though a combination of sounds from vibrating strings somehow has any bearing on morality. I consider myself a Christian and I listen to the most extreme music known to man. So go figure.

Incidentally, for those unfamiliar with musical history, this was the first metal album to go out of its way to be overtly satanic, albeit for theatrical effect:

The only music I've heard called "satan" music before is the stuff by Marilyn Manson and I haven't heard anyone call him that in a while. It actually made me laugh though when a preacher told me to turn off a radio that was playing a song by him and it was This is Halloween.
