There was recently a metal festival cancelled in Australia because a group of extremist Christians took offence to the advertising and complained to the venue owner who withdrew, leaving the organisers at the last minute without a venue and many bands out of pocket because they'd booked and payed for non-refundable flights and accomadation. So yeah, there are still those kind of people out there.

I've started taking bets with my friends as to the first few comments on a thread, predicted by the title of it. I won this thread, predicting people having a pop at spelling. Escapist in general is an easy win, people are somewhat... predictable...

OT: Not in England they don't

Nobody listens to metal anymore
nobody listens to the shitty fad metal anymore, bands whose fans were into them for something other than them being the next big thing still have their fans.
Okay, let me rephrase. "The number of people who listen to metal is so small as to be insignificant, and it no longer threatens the status quo in any way." Better?

I'm not a fan of metal, but that's because it's not to my taste. I don't think it's satanic at all.

I know there are metal bands to try to be satanic, but I find them funny rather then frightening.

I also find Christians who are afraid of reality pretty amusing too. Their entire set of beliefs is based on a misinterpretation of a 2000 year old book. Sucks to be them.

Nobody listens to metal anymore, so it's not a threat to anyone. I'm sure they would be upset about it if it was popular.
You sir, have never been to a metal music festival. There is so many people there its actually quite scary. And they all look normal! NORMAL! WHAT KIND OF DEMONIC SAVAGERY IS THAT!?!?!?!

But yeah, anything pretending to be satanic is worthy of extreme lulz.

Wow this thread is just a magnet for grammar Nazis :p

OT: There will always be someone that will call it that. Just as there are people who, like you said, think that video games are violence simulations.

lol sorry for that quite being sooooo damn long. was going to abridge it a bit, but then i saw the pre-post text form and its waaay too much to sort through. for me anyway.
Not a problem. I love discourse and debate. :)

but i didnt know that about audio adrenaline. makes me respect them more. thats one thing about truly christ-like christians, you CANNOT say they arent dedicated.
Reminds me of a quote from Gandhi: "I like your Christ, but I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ."
It sucks that there are so many un-Christ-like Christians out there, but the ones that are Christ-like give me hope. :)

and thats cool about jars of clay. i should of added that i didnt mean that as a blanket statement for every christian band that makes a mainstream splash. reliant k and demon hunter more than prove that wrong.
Oh, I didn't mean to imply that, either. I was just making discussion about other similar stuff.

as for katy perry, i had no earthly idea whatsoever. that kinda sucks, because i kinda like some of her music, like i used to enjoy evanecense. now thatll be impossible since ever time i hear her or amy lee, il just be thinking "you worthless, manipulating *****".

i think since metal music is so obviously not satanic, a good number of metal bands have tried to appear and sound satanic, so that metal is now satanic. but only superficially.

Not that many.
Most of the people who spent their time attacking Metal now spend their time attacking video games.
