I dont mean people shouldn't take anything seriously, just a bit less. I'm from NYC and it just seems like everyone is in such a rush, so quick to anger, eager to honk, yell, and insult, so easily offended, and so petty. Everything is now or never, life and death, everyone is tense and scared.Estocavio said:Some People Enjoy being Competitive.

It isnt a matter of having a Guard. While to you it may seem like some kind of Progress to make someone get all Giggly, to them, theyre probably Frustrated that YOURE not taking things more seriously.
Other than that, you could Die any given Day.
Being Not-Serious is not going to enhance the Days you have for everyone.
Bare that in mind.
In ^that^ case, I wouldn't say that people shouldn't be competitive or anything, I'd say that they need to connect more. It seems like the problem isn't that they have too much to do, or that they want to shove that $2 where the sun don't shine, but rather that they are too hesitant to form interpersonal connections. Seems like that would solve a lot of the problems you seem to notice.DBLT4P said:I dont mean people shouldn't take anything seriously, just a bit less. I was in a dunkin donuts last week and the guy ahead of me was $2 short on a $40 dollar order he was geting for a meeting or something, both his creditcards got declined, and i just gave him two bucks. he looked at me like he was on punked or something and said he would have taken this or that off but it was for his boss, trying to justify the money i had already given him. People just seem to have so little faith that there are good people in the world.
what i ment before was that when someone gets bumped into, or accidentally spills a drink on you, rather than berate them, smile, joke how it looks like you pissed yourself, and laugh it off. getting pissed isnt going to turn back time, just bring you closer to a heart attack, and make them feel worse for something they probably already feel bad about. They will feel better, and you will feel better, it just seems pretty simple to me: take everything with a grain of salt and a pinch of sugar. Take life seriously, but dont be petty; relax but responsible.
Depends on the company you keep. People are more defensive around strangers. It's understandable though. A friend can call me an idiot and I know he doesn't mean it, or maybe he does but it's just out of concern. When a stranger calls me an idiot it's generally because he can't grasp why I'd believe in evolution or global warming and he genuinely believes I have the reasoning power of a bag of sand.DBLT4P said:well do they? I just wonder if people would enjoy being alive a bit more if everyone were just a little less competitive, everything wasn't always life or death important, and if people slowed down, lowered their guard, and had a laugh once in a while.
