I buy strategy guides for games I intend to complete with the platinum, but they aren't straight forward. Skyrim comes to mind, and I do have the guide for Lightning Returns. Been following the walkthrough because that game is super confusing (and hard) because it doesn't make you play in order. You can do whatever quests you feel like whenever you want, and that can really throw me off.

I also buy guides because I seem to have a unique problem that no one else has: My gaming systems are not set up in the same room as the computer. Everyone else I know has a computer in the same room, usually within easy reach. To look something up online, I have to pause the game, go to a different room, turn on the computer, wait for it to get ready, and then search for the information. And then a lot of the info is always in video form, which means I either have to watch a whole five minute video, or skim through it hoping I find the one thing that I need. That's a good seven to ten minutes, and that's only if I go straight for what I need and don't browse around. Flipping to a page in a book that I have right beside me is much easier.

To me they're something to read on the toilet or in the car or anywhere I'm away from my computer. When I'm actually playing a game either on my xbox 360 or PS2 or on the PC, well I've got the PC right here.
