Do the current Playstation Vita launch titles seem a little crappy?

When they first announced the Playstation Vita, I was excited for its release almost instantly. It's the first handheld that can perform just like current generation consoles. And now as the release of the console draws near (for those not in Japan) I can't help but notice that the PSV's launch titles all seem really... crap.

Sure, they're are a couple of games that look alright, like the Uncharted game, but other than that, there's really not much good in there (in my opinion).

So what are your thoughts on the matter Escapist people?

That's normal for hardware launches. Vita has games in the works that look great.

Pretty much all Launch titles for every system are poor!

I don't know if I will get a Vita but if I do, it'l be when the price drops and by that point there should be a good Library of games.

Have you seen a launch before now? Regardless of the system all the games at the beginning are usually pretty crappy ranging to sub par. Just like with the 3DS I'll wait to pick up one until I have a bit more money in my pocket and a game I want is coming out soon for it.

I'm waiting to see how it handles. It seems to be doing pretty poor in Japan so I'm expecting a Price Cut similar to the 3DS' towards the end of the year on the Vita too.

And yeah. Only Katamari interests me for launch. If it had PSP playback then maybe I'd be more tempted with one or two from it's library but nope.

i actually like a few of the launch titles, and i got a fair bit of money over christmas and my birthday that i had no idea what to do with other than getting a new handheld (i was told to try buy something worthwhile).

i first took a look at the 3DS and decided it doesn't have anything of interest to me on it.

a few escapist articles led me to looking up the vita and i became quite impressed with some of the games that were set to come out for it, gravity rush in particular caught my eye almost immediately. everything i've seen on gravity rush just makes me want it more.

as far as actual on-launch games go, i'm mostly looking forward to rayman origins, uncharted and blazblue to begin with.

if gravity rush actually still is a launch game then i look forward to that the most, but i seem to recall reading that it may have got pushed back till march sometime.

to answer the original question though, yeah, about 50% of the launch games are meh, another 30% look alright, and the last 20% look pretty decent. but with launch lineups theres always only a few decent games anyway. some of the stuff in the works for vita looks awesome though.

For the life of me, I can't remember any good launch titles for any system. Well halo wasn't bad, even if I'm a PC guy. Its the Vita, its selling as many units as the PS2, seriously, its going that bad. I don't think they can compete with Nintendo with the handheld, Nintendo is casual, handhelds are casual, do you see the connection?

Launch titles don't mean much in the long run anyway. The Dreamcast had the best launch lineup in history while the PS2 had a pile of crap, and, uh...

Well, yeah.

The launch lineup isn't great, but it is better than the 3DS lineup, either way, it's the future games like Persona 4 Golden, or whatever it's called, that get me excited, hopefully by then the price will have been slashed heavily

I had no intention of buying it around launch time because the line-up seemed so 'unappealing'. However, I think I was experiencing payday euphoria when I bought the Vita. At that time I think I would have bought almost anything with the money burning a hole in my wallet.

Having said that, its getting alot of use. Mostly playing psp titles though! Nearly swore out loud when I saw Uncharted for £45 at the time of purchase.

As far as future games are concerned, I'm afraid to look. There may well be nothing on the horizon for me. A JRPG would be very nice. Hell, any rpg would be great. I 'quite' like handheld rpgs by the way.
