Do Transsexuals Go Through "That Time of the Month"? (I am Honestly Curious, I mean no offense)

In my attempts to better understand the LGBTQ Community in which I belong, I have studied the many characteristics of the many people who diversely identify themselves within said community. But during this Hellish hunt for knowledge, a question popped up in my head.

Now, I mean no offense, and I'm really doing my best to use the correct terms, so please take no offense if I happen to slip up on my vocabulary/vernacular/etc.

The question is this: Do Male to Female Transsexuals who undergo the procedures have periods? Do Female to Male Transsexuals still have theirs after the procedures?

(Please keep this conversation mature, and if I happened to have pissed you off, I am sorry, here is a cookie.)

Generally no. Kinda.

MTFs lack a uterus. Your uterine lining can't shed if you don't have a uterus. FTMs don't usually get hysterectomies as part of their transition, but if they're on testosterone and estrogen blockers, their menstrual cycle will eventually stop.

Maybe? I've never thought about it. This is a strange question I thought I'd never have to answer.

I guess FTMs might go through it. MTFs wouldn't ever.

My first question would be why you would want this knowledge in the first place...

Anyway

The point of having a period is it's crutial to having children. Male to Female trans only need their parts to look female outwardly, so they wouldnt have a uterus.

Female to male in post op would likely have had something done to stop having periods all together.

And now I go to take a shower.

The parts required to be able to have periods are the same parts that are required to make babies, namely the reproductive organs (ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes). As they are until now not routinely transferrable/transplantable between individuals - they seem to be getting there with mother-daughter transplants, but I must admit I am not up-to-date on that development - there's no way of genuine periods, although some individuals might be inclined to fake it, just like natural born females might.

So, no, M2F transsexuals have no way of producing proper periods, as the parts required to do so are plain not there. Sexual intercourse can still be anywhere from horrible to awesome.

Now that we're clear about producing proper periods (which is a resounding no, not at all!), it has to be noted that M2F transsexuals and their surrounding random humans can very well experience something very much like PMS and other 'special' times of the month/week/day, thanks to hormones. If M2F transsexuals stick to the daily/weekly/monthly dosage of, I think it's mostly just anti-androgens and estrogens now, they're pretty stable (mental illnesses not taken into account). If M2F folks are lazy, they can go into menopause every other week, or a dozen times every day, mostly between breakfast and lunch, lunch and dinner and dinner and breakfast.

If doctors are into human experiments or give in to the not too directly self-destructive cravings of their patients, the female cycle can be mimicked by timely application of estrogens and progesterone. This could even lead to M2F transsexuals producing breast milk, although I would assume it wasn't quite ready for baby (or any) consumption due to elevated hormonal levels. But that's just me guessing there.

As for your second question - F2M transsexuals usually don't come with the very manly cock'n'balls combo. Some want to go for it, others keep their original bits in their pants. In some places, they will have to have their naughty bits removed (ovaries/uterus) in order to apply for name and status change. As in the case of the curious Mr. Beatty, he decided to keep his woman bits and even got pregnant, which is a bit of a mindwarp, and takes some rather dedicated doctors to make sure the baby isn't flooded in manjuice for the nine months it usually takes our kind to reach that ripe-and-ready state in order to be flushed into the world. Most F2M I know of have their internal female bits removed, and the external organs are sewn shut, much like Muslim women in certain regions. Only that they usually keep their bits shut and won't have to endure them being ripped open at every next best childbirth party.

I hope that answers your questions, I need a shower now. No, make that a bubble bath.

Well if this is a thread asking a weird question about the LGBTQ community, I think I'll ask my slightly less weird question:

In a gay marriage, how do they decide who gets their partners name?

Not related to the thread, but what does the Q stand for and when was it added? I havent seen it before.

EDIT: I just noticed the OP used it as well.

I imagine they would just agree to it, or keep their own, or hyphenate. Hell, they might decide to change it to something else altogether. It's the same in straight marriages. Not all women agree to taking their husbands name. Sometimes the man takes the woman's name, or they choose one of the options I just listed.

It means queer. I don't know what kind of sexuality it is though. I always though it just another way of saying gay.

I assume its a way of saying "everybody else", i.e. Pansexuals, asexuals ect? I think they sound come up with a better name, like the "non-heteronormative community". Catchy.

Nope. The hormones used as part of 'transitioning' may cause some changes in a persons mood though. If a MTF has a thattimeofthemonth, it's something their subconsious mind is 'tricking' them into having. I've heard of this happening. Sexuality is a dificult thing!

It's there to include people who don't really know, people who are unsure of their "status"...

I assume it would just be like any other non-traditional marriage proceedings, like when the man takes the woman's name rather than the other way around. In other words, I think it's just up to the couple on who gets what.

Well MTF transsexuals can't have periods as they don't have a uterus. FTM transsexuals probably don't as the hormones they take probably stop it from happening. Not sure though.
