Do you add random friends on the internet?

A few people have sent me requests and I have no idea why. Nobody ever talks to me here or anything although I've kept two friends as one I find funny and the other does most of my avatars. I just don't see the appeal in making my friend count huge. Just more people to look at on the list? I know those of you with big friend counts both here and on other sites don't talk to all of your friends.

I don't add random friends. You gotta earn that.

I am very rarely the person who initiates the friend request but if someone adds me and I don't hate them (or forget), I'll add them back. No real reason not to, I guess.

So yeah, I do end up adding random people.

Well, I have very few real life friends, so if someone random amuses me, I might make them a friend.

I'm usually not the one to friend someone but if someone friends me I usually friend them back unless I don't get a message that they added me or I don't particularly like them. I've been friended by random people quite a few times but whenever it happens I feel loved since someone wanted to add me to their friends list.

When it comes to the escapist, this is pretty much me. People usually add me after we've been on the same side in some argument or another, and the one person I sent the request to I did it for that reason as well. I guess "allies" or "people who I agree with on certain things" may be a better name for my friends list, overall. On online games, it's a mix of actual friends and just people who I've had a good match with; I rarely turn down a request unless it's from someone who I've never even played with or met.

On the Escapist (for example) if someone adds me and I think they're pretty cool, I'll add them too.

When I was younger I added pretty much anybody that played a quick game with me or even had a small chat with me. Now though, I don't add anybody unless I know them in real life (and we're actually friends) and SOME people online if they're really cool and fun to play/talk to. Even here on the Escapist i've only ever added one person on here and its some cool dude that made this nyan cat profile gif for me
