Life on other planets? Well, think about it, there are billions of planets out there, so it's statistically likely that there will be other ecosystems and other life forms.

Do I believe aliens have visited earth? No, I find that more difficult to believe. It's an extrodinary claim, that alien life forms have been here, so that means it needs pretty decisive evidence before I'll believe it.

Yes, but nowhere so positionally near or technologically advanced to care about.

Statistically they are guaranteed to exist in some form, whether intelligent or just bacteria.

By our current knowledge of physics, interstellar travel is completely impossible unless we perfect some form of perserving life for thousands of years, and even then by the time we get to another planet Earth could be long gone and would be near uncontactable.

No. But I do believe there are other 'Earth's' out there, other humans like us. But not weird creature aliens.

We exist, so I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that some other lifeform(s) exist out there as well. Space is an awfully big place, afterall.

Not really. It's true under lazy assumptions we have no basis assuming.

As for the mathematics I am using, they are Adamsian [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tongue-in-cheek] mathematics.

Lazy assumptions? You can tell you're not an Astrophysicist. We have observational evidence to support the assumptions made in my very rudimentary, but still applicable, statistical model.

By saying we have no basis you are disregarding hundreds of years worth of research.

Yes, yes, no, I don't believe they have visited Earth.
And why are aliens always assumed to be technologically more advanced than us? Hell, we might be the most technologically advanced beings in this galaxy.

Yes. It's a big universe. Like, really big. Like earth is a marble in a massive lake. Jut cause aliens haven't bothered to say hello doesn't mean they don't exist. Though i'd probably ask it if I can ride in the mother ship. That'd be fun.

Yes, I believe they exist, and visit Earth frequently. It's covered up by the Illuminati, and people are psychologically conditioned to be sceptical. I've contacted all sorts of them at night - for some warped reason I have a psychic link with extraterrestrials, but I probably shouldn't be saying that on a public forum.

No I don't. I try to have some form of empirical evidence before I take the active step of believing in anything I can reasonably avoid believing in. I just go with "I don't know".

Also, the Peruvian skull doesn't prove anything.

As others has said it is highly unlikely that Earth is only planet in universe to hold life.

So yes I believe in Aliens. I don't however believe any have visited earth.

Do I believe there is intelligent life somewhere in the universe?
Yes, the universe is a very big place.

Do I believe they have visited earth if they exist?
No. The distances are just too large to be practical, there's all that jazz about time dilation and such, etc.

Reading up on the Fermi Paradox is quite interesting, for those who are into the subject of aliens.

Yes I believe there is life on other planets, yes I believe there is intelligent life.

Considering that the building blocks for life here on earth are essentially a mix of space dust that collected on a rock, it has to have collected on other rocks. Probably on Mars as well until it's magnetic field failed and solar radiation scoured it.

Considering the age of the universe, the time it takes for life to develop and evolve (very quickly on a cosmic scale) and the size of the universe and billions of galaxies made up of billions of billions of planets, entire civilizations on other worlds have likely evolved and died out before the earth was even formed.

The sad part is, if something similar to the SETI program ever gets a signal, it will probably be from one of these. Someone long dead in a place where there are only bones and dust to hear our reply.

i.e. when we call back to ask: Do you have oil on your world and are you bullet proof?"

EDIT: I doubt that aliens have visited our planet, but I don't think it's impossible. Think of it like this: We have large numbers of scientists scanning the heavens for planets potentially capable of supporting life. What keeps another civilization from doing the same? If we had interstellar capability, those would be the first planets we would head for. Likely another civilization would feel the same way. That and a planet that does support life in a sea of ones that don't would attract a LOT of attention. Landmasses and liquid water? None of the others we have seen look even remotely like ours.

Yes and yes. It's very unlikely that there are no other intelligent life forms in the universe, and history has at least SOME evidence that we have been visited by aliens. Nothing is for certain, though.

I would go with more the earth is a marble in the ocean, and marble might be a little to big.

Message me if your being serious about that. That's astoundingly interesting and I would love to know more.

Given the odds against life forming but the fact that we're all still sitting here in front of our computers wasting away I don't see how we could possibly be the only life in all of the cosmos. The big question is will any other species ever leave their solar system as that's quite the journey and so far we've just been using our fuel to ferry our fat asses around on this planet, and I'm not sure if I can imagine a species not doing the same.

So to me the question of life on other planets is obvious: Yes, there are, but odds are we'll never meet them because we'll probably never get out of this galaxy, if we even make it off this rock in any solid way which I just don't see happening unless we all stop aiming nuclear weapons at each other, making peace through mutually assured destruction. PFFBT. And we can't count on them coming to us as they probably start with the same equipment, which granted we've come far starting out with just tree branches, stones, and the concept of fire... But it's very hard to imagine going from what we have now to a full on space-faring species that was very popular in late 80's early 90's sci-fi.

Yes, I believe in aliens, Earth can't be the only planet in the infinite universe that has life.
No, they haven't visited Earth. Earth is like the Checker's of the galaxy, sure if your far away you feel like going, but when you get closer it just doesn't seem like a good idea because its in a ghetto-ass neighborhood.
