Look at it this way, it is illegal to be a KKK member. It is illegal to be a Nazi sympathizer.

What country are you in? No it absolutely is not. You have every right to hate Jews and Blacks. So long as no violence is involved, you are perfectly in the right. Perhaps not morally speaking, but freedom of speech covers that.

But it is legal to be an extremely sexist church member, preaching the ways of your Lord to disguise your phobia of homosexuals.

As it should be. So long as they only say "I hate gays because of an ancient text that is no longer applicable in the modern world", and not "LET'S GO LYNCH SUM QUEERS!" they're fine. I really don't give a shit if you're offended by it...some time ago, talk about women voting, and further back abolishing slavery, was considered just as ridiculous and possibly offensive. I'm not saying you should compare hate to those, but the point remains: without freedom of speech, we would never have made such progress.

Is it really? To some extent I would agree, as any reasonable man would, but making such things illegal doesn't make them disappear. You think people would stop hating Jews if Nazism was made illegal? Ridiculous. Besides, Hateful Actions and Hateful Words are two very different things. The latter has never hurt anyone, unless you choose to actually take offense to what crazies say.

tl;dr Freedom of speech covers everything, except the advocating of violence. You don't get to decide what's "offensive".

Yeah, the Nazis and KKK aren't breaking the law. And neither are the crazy church people that come knocking on my door. They're both pressing their ideas on other people, which I'm not a big fan of, but they have the right to do so. And I don't want that right taken away anytime soon.

Freedom of speech Constitutionally allows any kind of speech unless that speech infringes on someone else's rights. I believe in the freedom of speech as it applies to the Constitution of the United States (the single greatest document man has ever written).

There are many different Neo-Nazi organizations and clubs that go by the name KKK. Shit, the KKK and Neo-Nazis openly recruit. As in, they go out and say "If you hate Jews, sign up". They are a perfectly legitimate, if not absolutely immoral, organization. None of them are terrorist groups, since they, you know, generally don't do terrorism. Saying mean things =/= terrorism.

It's bullshit because you think you get to decide what "freedom of speech" means. It covers everything except, say, conspiracy to commit murder, and other such disastrous things such as shouting fire in a crowded theater.

We do just fine with it, actually. As soon as people like you just accept that different people have different views, and sometimes people say mean things, there's no problem.
