Do you buy enhanced versions of games you already own?

This could include all the HD collections that are coming out as well as enhanced ports. For example Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable when you already own the original PS2 game.

If I think the game is worth buying again, yeah.

I snapped up the Team Ico collection, because those games are still gorgeous, the only think holding them back were PS2 hardware limitations.

Don't forget Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, you dog.

"Come here, puppy!"

Other than Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, which I purchased after previously buying Marvel vs Capcom 3 early last year, I also purchased Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, because come on, it's Frank West.

Frank. 'effing. West.

[sub]I just realized how much of a Capcom fanboy this post makes me look like. Ah well. I regret nothing.[/sub]

I definitely buy HD collections, and occasionally the digital versions of older games. Yeah, I still have my PS2 and the original games (well, in a few cases), but I only have so many power outlets and ports in my TV, and if I can play the game on my PS3 instead of hooking up my PS2 and playing it there, I absolutely will.

Depends on how much new stuff they through in and how old the game is. If it's a particularly old game, from an era that has aged horrible, like Ocarina of Time, yes.

If it's from the PS2, and still looks pretty good like Sly Cooper, I'll pass.

Depends on how much I liked the game. If I loved it and played it to death then I'll probably enjoy one more run through. I probably won't buy it though if I still own the previous version because that seems wasteful even if they have added stuff. That said, I've bought and still own Final Fantasy Tactics on pretty much every system it's been released on.

Not for games I already own no.

I'm firmly in the camp that the money I pay for a game is the only money I will ever pay for that game. I don't buy DLC, addons or enhanced versions.

I buy ports of old games. I bought the Legend of Zelda 3D even though I have it for N64 because it was good for a road-trip its a genuinely good game and I wanted to try master quest.

If it was worth buying again or the improvements were significant then probably. If it doesn't improve anything or the original wasn't that good probably not.

No. I have only ever bought one enhanced version of a game (Half-Life: Source), and I did not already own that game.

Now, as for whether or not I would buy and enhanced version of a game I already own, the answer is maybe. In order for me to buy it, the enhanced edition would have to change/fix/update enough to justify playing that version over the original, and the game would have to be good enough to justify buying twice.

Not really, no. My PS2/Xbox still work fine, so I'm good using those.

That being said, if a Timesplitters HD collection ever came out I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Or a Star Wars Battlefront HD collection.

The only time I've done this was when my boyfriend and I got Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 on release day, having previously bought regular MvC3 on its release day. But splitting the cost makes it easier to swallow, I guess. Also, we were hosting a hell of a lot of MvC3 parties (seriously, it's really good fun. Try it some time) and the new version just presented an excuse to throw a few more :p

Maybe. Depends on what the enhancement is and if I still have the original. If it's something asinine like these HD collections, then probably not. Of course I did buy many of the Mario ports and remakes, but then that was because I didn't have the originals anymore.

Come on Squareenix, make a goddamn Kingdom Hearts HD remake.
Or get the fuck round to making Kingdom Hearts 3, enough of faffing about on handhelds. (LOved Birth By Sleep but that's not the point)

OT: Yeah I do, strangely, I have the MGS collection despite owning 2 and 3 and peace walker being in the same house, because it was all 3 enhanced version and therefor worthwhile for me. I have DMC3, DMC3 Special Edition, and the HD collection in spite of that and owning DMC1. Convenience I guess, £20 to have them all on one disc and not change cables and have verifiable proof to all that I am unblinking as soon as I platinum DMC3 >_O

I have Resident Evil 4 on PS2 and on the Wii. It is better on the Wii. Significantly, motion controls help it alot imo. Still only have the original release of RE5 because fuck you Capcom and your not-patching-long-time-fans-only-those-who-waited-for-goty-edition attitude.

Also: I have all 3 Jak games and all 3 sly games, still got HD collections. Good things imo, support the franchise and convenience.

Actually I don't have Jak 2 my copy died and got traded in.

Always a good method, it does depend with me. It's part can't be bothered to hook up my PS2, and part I'm missing a title in a series if I get an HD collection. Or in the case of MGS, I wanted the enchaned edition of snake eater, but it goes for stupidly expensive prices, and was cheaper to get the HD collection for it.

Not just that, DEhanced versions, as well.

I'd already had Half-Life: Source for a few months, and saw the original 1998 version for a couple bucks, and went ahead to buy it!

I have never purchased a product that i already own with two possible exceptions.

The first was a book by terry pratchet, i had to rebuy it because my dog chewed up the oringal, no joke realy somthing like the last 40 pages were riddeled with holes, covered in slobber and generaly unreadable.

The second was when i purchased an additional copy of street fighter 2 the anime movie, the reason for the purchase the second one had the original japanese audio track and some extened scenes which i kinda wanted, can't stand watching anime when its dubbed.

As for games, never repurchased anything that i already owned, neither a HD remake or a complete dlc edition or anything of the like, i probably wont ever do it either, seems like a waste of money just my opinion though.

Captcha seemed somwhat appropriate:
