I'm a bit of a completionist, so if there's a game that I really like then I'll gladly explore every corner of it.
Do these little rewards matter to you? For me, it really only matters if I can actually enjoy the process of 100%ing the game. I had fun getting the platinum trophy for Final Fantasy XIII, beating every track and mission in Mario Kart DS, and currently I'm in the process of getting the platinum trophy for Portal 2.
However, some people tell me I'm wasting my time. I disagree; if I'm enjoying the process of finishing the game with 100% completion, then I'd say I'm getting my money's worth.
How about you? Are trophies/achievements a waste of time or are they worth the effort?
