"No!, because it's stupid"

I get no enjoyment from dancing and feel uncomfortable doing it (alone or with others). Not surprising considering my hermit-esque anti-social life style.

I've danced twice in my entire life...

One time my girlfriend made me dance with her at a party (I was objecting on the basis "But I can't dance..." she later found out I was telling the truth)

My sister wanted to practice ballroom dancing and made me help her...

Other than those 2 incidents I just can't dance at all... I analyse the movements I make too much and become really self conscious and just can't "Feel" the music...

It all depends on alcohol intake.
Sober - standing on the sidelines, tapping my feet to the beat
Tipsy - venture tentatively onto the dance floor, maybe try and get a dance with a girl or two
Drunk - I'm the disco king, throwing more crazy shapes than Tony Manero
I do make an exception for Scottish dancing through, if there's a ceilidh in town I'm all over it

I avoid it.
I don't enjoy it and I look retarded doing it for I have no idea how to. After enough alcohol I seem to occasionally forget that, though only in company I know won't laugh at me(and probably would look as hilarious as I do, if I could see straight), and it happens ONLY if I am dragged kicking and screaming to the dancing area, and even then I last for about half a minute before I sit down and instead drink and/or smoke and/or take photographs of others. I have on one occasion used retarded dancing as a means to keep myself awake, that was when I went to The Netherlands on that Eurohash thing(no, that event has absolutely nothing to do with ingesting cannabis, and yes, I am serious here - google Hash House Harriers if you don't believe me/want to know more about it).

So yes, basically the only way I will end up dancing is after ingesting large quantities of alcohol, among others more or less like me, and will probably give up after a little while.

Well, I can't dance, but get enough booze down me and minor obstacles like a complete lack of talent and self-esteem disappear immediately!

Well usually I don't really, but it does happen, at those times more often than not alcohol is used in some volume...

And when I dance "classic" stuff (like waltz..) it's more an interpretation of the dance... or a show how to make a complete and utter fool of yourself whilst laughing at yourself... I'm really bad and this has happened at a public place 3 times so far...

But it does happen I dance just for the hell of it (a boring dying party...) and all of a sudden it gets fun...

We can dance if we want to!
We can leave your friends behind!
'Cuz your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine!
I say, we can go where we want to!
A place where they will never find!
And we can act like we come from out of this world!
Leave the real one far behind!
And we can dance!

Translation: No.

Yes, I can dance at parties, the drunker I am the better the dancing, and I can also dance plenty of ballroom dances but with those the drunker I am the worse it gets.

It took me 24 years and a bit of alcohol, but I was finally able to force myself onto the dance floor of a Philadelphia night club that I go to... that was 5 years ago. Then, I met my (now) fiance. Her home schooled, Christian upbringing had left her without the ability to do anything other than two-step, but that didn't stop her from ridiculing me. Since then, I haven't been able move on a dance floor other than to cross from point A to B, and she's become a fucking professional tribal belly dancer.

So as the topic says, do you dance at parties? Or if you don't, then, do you do some other kind of dancing (artistic maybe).
I do, probably better than anyone else on this forum :)

only in crowds, at parties, social events and stuff like that.

i grossly lack the self confidence to dance in front of people in my own.

Alright dude... if that really is you... here's a hint...

Send this video to the escapist staff with a letter were you say you could make a weekly/every two weeks video of different breakdance moves were you instruct people on how to learn basic breakdancing for a small fee (lets say 30Euros per video). I mean you get to dance, you get publicity and small money they maybe could give to you is only + for you.

And of course that would give me a small opportunity of learning something cool ;)

Great video by the way!

and to answer the topic.

In bars on the dancefloor yes, I've done a short course of lcassical dances like Tango, Waltz, and a few others but only the basics, it was really fun.

Sober, no. I would never go out of my way to consciously go to a dance club or anything. If I'm drunk at a party that has music and stuff and I'm instigated by someone worth dancing with, then yeah.

It used to take me a while to get going, but once I did start dancing, I would usually dance until the dance/wedding/event was over.

Some of my favorite memories of my late 20s were when I took ballroom dancing. I enjoyed (and enjoy) the music and it was fun dancing with many different partners.

Year ago I would have said dancing is stupid, but now every time I'm at a club I just have to dance! It's fun! But of course I need to be very VERY drunk.

And I'm 100% sure I dance like a retard but who cares?
