Do you ever find yourself liking a game for the reason everyone else hates it?

Or vice-versa?

Example: GTA IV is my favorite GTA game because it's more realistic. I am apparently the only one. Sometimes I feel like there's something wrong with me.

I seem to be one of the few people that liked Kane and Lynch. It had flaws, but I really enjoyed it apart from the last missions in that bombed out city - the end. With that said I still have hopes for the second.

I liked GTA4 and I still mess around in it from time to time. Glad the DLC is coming to the PS3 too.

You live my life apparently, gaming-wise.

Sort of. If a game is hyped by my friends I expect to much and generally get disappointed, if they hate a game I don't expect anything and get pleasantly surprised. I hate it when my friends likes games I haven't played.

I really liked Kane and Lynch too. The multiplayer was fresh and very exciting. You never knew when or if another person would betray you. I was pretty good at getting a group of 3 people to work together, and then betray them in the last round, scoring millions of $ and winning the game. I'm hoping that Kane and Lynch: Dog Days is a bit more polished and gets a equally awesome multiplayer.

Most people I know like the Call of Duty kind of shooter; fast, kind of arcadey, lots and lots of popular guns and idiotic attachments. I'm the kind of guy that freaks out when I hear of a new title like Arma 2 or OFP: Dragon Rising. I know one other guy who plays Arma and Dragon Rising.

See, I hate GTA4 for its pretentious realism and seeming lack of comedic lightheartedness. But maybe it's because I'm a bitter old man...

Hm, something like for reasons everybody else hates it...how about the Master of Orion series? I like it precisely because it takes forever to get anything done. It is basically the perfect way to kill several hours in one sitting

I know some people were turned off by the slower pace of Persona 3 but to me that was one of of it's better features.

There also people who will hate a game for turn based combat while it's always a good thing to me.

you are not alone. i love farmville. talking about NOT beig with a majority in here that is.

but you know, we all are different. no 2 people are the same. the same is true for their tastes. that is what inspires creativit and diversity. if we all loved the same, the world would be boring. there is nothing wrong with being different. there is only something wrong with feeling bad for it.

be proud. you are not an uniformed soldier. you are the unique individual you were created to be

my kudos to you

Nope, I loved GTA IV, but not just for it's realism - for it's story.

The whole thing played out like a really good mobster movie. I especially love it when games don't always have a happy ending (Depending on the one you got, of course.)

OT: I actually quite liked Kane and Lynch. The levels were... Well... FUN.
They were exciting. Throughout the journey I kept going from locale to locale and I thought "Oh, hey, this would be a pretty co- That's the next mission? SWEET!"

Yes, because liking the most played game in the world surely puts you in the minority...

Tekken 6's Scenario Campaign. I liked because it WAS a Final Fight style beat'em up. Why beat up one person when you can beat up lots at once?

I enjoy games that are challeninging. Most of my Family thinks I'm nuts as a result.
Opposite. Most of my college friends seem to love impossible enemies and the constant rage that they seem to have over skype.

When I'm playing a game, if I die more than once in the same place then I generally stop enjoying the game.

Same here. For me GTA IV is the best in the series, because of its realism. I love the physics for instance.
The only other one I can think of right now is Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. I love it because of the building vehicle gameplay. This seems to be the thing which most people hate about it. I am still hoping for another platformer with the duo, but it was a sweet game.

It goes the other way as well. I hate MGS for its story, which I find pompous and soap-opera-ish. I just cannot take it serious, and not in a good way.

People tend to jump on bandwagons when finding faults with games. When I play games that people find a lot of faults with I often think they are making mountains out of molehills or are just plain wrong. Some things that get a lot of praise are also often very flat and uninteresting to me.

A game I liked because everyone hated that part...Oh! Dissdia Final Fantasy. The ONLY reason I bought Dissdia was everyone near where I live HATED it. I loved it, personally.

I'm not sure but I think I might be in a minority when I say that I liked Mirror's edge because of it being majority running, but still being a little challenging in the combat department. I think that a lot of people think it should be one or the other.

I seem to jump around with the Halo games, Didn't like CE, only played a few hours of 2 but found the third really addictive. Me and some friends had 360 LAN sessions. Being able to share a gametag and go online together against others was awesome. But then I didn't get into ODST, so I'm not sure what to make of Reach right now.
