Do you ever find yourself liking a game for the reason everyone else hates it?

Same, I just love the realism. I really hope that the next GTA doesn't go back to "one man army" type gameplay. I like gunfights where you actually have to think, not just run'n'gun.

I also loved the overall grittiness. As Hazy already said, it reminded me of a mobster movie.

Rockstar should keep the dark tone in the next GTA and leave the LOLOLOLOL factor to games like Saints Row.

I absolutely love Alone in the Dark: Inferno.

I bought the game for the PC and was heart-broken at the unplayable mess it turned out to be. So, I reluctantly decided to give it a second chance when I heard the PS3 version was going to be a major revamp, and wouldn't you know it, it's the best survival-horror game I've played in the last few years!

I thought that the Sonic Unleashed werehog stages were actually quite fun, it was a simple "here's an enemy, go punch it" set up.
Plus I didn't have to perfect any infuriatingly difficult drift move like in the day stages.

Apparently it's a God of War rip off, but I haven't played God of War so it'll do for now.

I know some people were turned off by the slower pace of Persona 3 but to me that was one of of it's better features.

There also people who will hate a game for turn based combat while it's always a good thing to me.
this. i like turn based combat alot, as long as its not INCREDIBLY slow, otherwise its much loved (i think this is also why chess is one of my favorite games to play IRL)

well i love socom because its a "third person" shooter, which involves way more strategy in a shooter, why everyone i know bitches at me because it "takes away from the immersion" and people camp, which actually its easier to kill campers in that game by doing corner checks...

also some people i know dont like most bioware games because their is too much dialogue and less shooting and killing...which i do a massive face palm at that

I really liked the battle system and license board in FF12. It's actually my favorite system in an FF game, which is weird because I like the turn based battles in JRPGs. I hope they do another game like it; doesn't necessarily have to be a Final Fantasy game.

I loved the story of Battlefield Bad Company 1 because it didn't take itself seriously. Its like DICE knew nothing was origional in that genre, so they just said "fuck it" and made pretty entertaining and funny story.

Apparantly everyone hated the lighthearted feel of it and wanted something more "serious" and "gritty".

It went from a lighthearted, fun story about 4 guys looking for gold to a "serious and gritty" story about another invasion of the U.S. by Russia...

I enjoy games that are challeninging. Most of my Family thinks I'm nuts as a result.
Ninja'd. I do as well. It gives me a little sense of pride that I'm decently skilled at games that other people deem as difficult/cheap/impossible.

Or vice-versa?

Honestly I didn't hate GTA4, but the praise that game got even being considered as one of the top five greatest games ever made was ridiculous.

I mean to me GTA4 was just more of the same, except this time a lot more boring and seeming mundane....but really it's not a bad game.

Just very repetitive...0o

Oh and as for me it has to be Bioshock 2, I love watching all the fanboys get aneurysm over the fact it was made at all like the first one was this precious special unique thing even though a rip off itself....=)

I enjoy the new CoD, MW2, because it's fatal flaws give me something to complain about when I need to vent, something to employ when I want to piss people off, and something write about when I'm bored on the Escapist. Plus it's really fun, to me that is.

I stopped liking Call of Duty (I refuse to say COD) Modern Warfare 2 beacause of two things.

1. Online
2. Customizable Classes in split screen

I know, I know. Stare all you want, but thats why i hate it.

I liked the original Mass Effect because I really got into the micro-managing of the equipment.

I LOVE Kingdom Hearts 2 because everyone said it was easy (it's not really THAT easy). That, and it's bloody incredible.

There's more, but those are the main two.

i got a good one, since im a teenager any game that isn't COD:MW2 is "gay"

So Plants and Zombies , no shooting in it, so its gay
Civilization 4, To slow to play, its gay
Team Fortress 2 OR ANYTHING MADE BY VALVE, yea probably gay by them

i hate being a teenager..

I like these games because there something differint from the War shooter, something most people i know cant handle..
I know how you feel. I have friends at school who will talk about nothing except MW2. Anytime I try to bring up "Aquaria", an amazing indie game, or Kingdom Hearts 2, one of my favorite games of all time, they say "that's nice" and say how they recently got "prestige" or whatever.

He actually told me, to my face, he thought Aquaria, the other one of my favorite games, was "Super Gay."

If I wasn't such a pacifist, and it wasn't a parochial high school, I would have socked him right there and then.

Most of my friends hated LoZ: Wind Waker for its cel-shaded graphics. I honestly thought it was a great new direction for the series, it wouldn't have been the same with say, Ocarina or Twilight graphics. I also loved Okami for its graphics, but my friends all love it as well, so that doesn't really count.

I liked Bioshock 2 a great deal and people talk about it like it was Tower Toppler....
I Really enjoyed Killzone 2 because of the non gimmicky fun fast paced shooter quality and people seem to hate it because of that.
Lastly i really liked Valkyrie Chronicles for the very reasons EVERYONE told me i should throw it out or burn it.

So yeah... I tend to like games reviewers tell me to burn. Mostly because i think the average game reviewer has become jaded after playing every game that comes out on every system.
