Do you ever get caught up playing a minigame and ignore the main game for a while?

I spent more time playing blitzball in FFX then I ever did on the main story line, it was really addictive.
This, and doing the Tron Bike thing in KH2. It was just so much fun!
Tron-Sora looked awesome.

Yeah I've been going crazy playing ODST firefight for a few weeks now, I only just recently played through the single player again. This is the same case with Gears of War 2.
lol yeah Firefight and Horde are great, tho I have played the campaigns quite a lot

but right now, I'm taking so long just making my way through Borderlands because I'm doing pretty much all of the side quests...

I spent tons of hours playing the card game in FF9, I liked the way the cards looked and wanted a full book.

In Majora's Mask I had to get all the pieces of heart. Who cares that the world is ending in 3 days, I have an ocarina and my own shit to do.

And swoop bike racing in KotOR. Tons of fun and reflexes.

I'm going to add another vote to the Final Fantasy Triple Triad and Tetra Master addiction. I mean, at least in eight it had a use, I could turn my Bahamut card into 100 Megalixers and waltz the rest of the game. In nine, however, there was little to no point to it.

Still, hours and hours and hours..

Racedriver GRID. Was fun, until I discovered online demolition derby. Didn't play the regular game again afterwards.

I've been playing Firefight pretty relentlessly too. I have yet to make past the Black Eye set, unfortunately... I'm just not that good.

On topic, would the Chao garden in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle count as a mini-game? If it does, then my brothers and I spent years on that. YEARS, I tell you. I could map out the whole Chao family tree if I wanted to, it's that extensive.

Totally! Who didn't play the crap out of pong in Commander Keen's Goodbye Galaxy?
What? You mean that wasn't Pong with a platforming mini-game tacked on to sell to a modern crowd?

Also:

Shenmue. Arcade. The end.

I played Nazi Zombies far more than I played the campaign and online multiplayer in World at War, if that counts.

In Timesplitters 2 you could play "Python" on the little map box device. I also found the cartridge for Astro Lander in a locker in game and spent a lot of time playing that.

I stuck around the Hundred Acre Wood in Kingdom Hearts longer than normal, if that counts. It was like a nice internal vacation, really...

Also, the casino and fighting arena in God Hand. Not sure if the second one counts, though, sinec that simply takes a lot of time to begin with.
I guess it would be for Sora, after all that's one of the few places he can go in the universe without being hounded by heartless.

Any part of the game that's not important to the story. If FF12 was realistic, Vayne would have seized control of the entire while my heroes were busy fight Gilgamesh and his dog.

Pretty much everything at the Golden Saucer in Final Fantasy VII. Just one more 3D Battler game and I'll go fight Sephiroth, I promise. I think I can win this time!
