Do you ever get caught up playing a minigame and ignore the main game for a while?

Blitzball, Triple Trid, the card game in FFIX and Fable II's jobs. Spent a stupid amount of time doing Fables jobs because I was having to play with the sound off but couldn't sleep and didn't want to hit a cut scene without being able to listen to it.

I spent more time playing blitzball in FFX then I ever did on the main story line, it was really addictive.
Same but it was far too expensive.
They should have gave you a budget instead of having to use Tidus's gil.
Yeah money was an issue at times especially when you've forgotten when the contract for one of your best players is up, and they then get signed up by another team.
I was addicted too but i pretty much finished the game and had a ton of money.

Not too often but there is one for me. I think I've spent more time playing the Hewie mini-game in Haunting Ground than I have playing the main game. I just really like playing as Hewie. xD

Pazaak and Blitzball + at least one minigame that I am too ashamed to mention out loud, but it was a Pirate card game within a DS game (sorry, sorry) Plus probably a few others that it is too late at night to remember!

Maybe the creators of Mass Effect didn't intend for this, but mocking the Mako became a source for hours of entertainment for my friends,

One word: Blitzball.

Seriously, they could have made that as a game on its own and I would buy it. Even in X-2 where you didn't directly control anyone I got sucked into it, especially since I could make a team that consisted entirely of minor characters from the first game. =3

The card game in FF9. I also took quite a bit of time on the jumprope contest and swordfight, but after that it was only cards that really got me to break from my story.

I tend to play games where you get money to the point of having more money than there is stuff to buy. Also, in Morrowind I sent around 220 hours/character just selling Daedric/Glass stuff to the Creeper. I has no life. :(

I like the casino games in the first two Persona games, especially poker.

Played the submarine game at Gold Saucer in FF7 alot.

Probably a bunch of others, but I don't remember 'em all right now.

Pretty much everything at the Golden Saucer in Final Fantasy VII. Just one more 3D Battler game and I'll go fight Sephiroth, I promise. I think I can win this time!
Don't worry by the time Super Nova gets though you should be there.

I keep playing The World Ends With You for the Tin Pin. Also, the only reason I got as far as I did in Sonic Adventure Battle 2 was the Chao Garden. XD

Atelier Iris: collecting recipes and making stuff. Seriously, you could argue that that is the actual game, and the plot and all that stuff is just a mini-game that lets you unlock better ingredients.

Aside from Blitzball (I wasted so much time on that I got Wakka's ultimate weapon by accident), I've got a pretty weird one.

For reasons I won't go into, I had one of the Harry Potter games on the DS, and there was a surprisingly addictive physics-based multiplayer Gobstones minigame that I and a friend spent literally hours on, whilst I never touched the main game itself.
Yea. Sometimes I'll throw in Order of the Phoenix just to play some Wizard Chess. Also:

gta Chinatown Wars: Once I opened up the dealing, I lost track of the main missions. It was also really good to see rampages return. So much better than gta4.

Oblivion - once I figured out how alchemy worked, I lost track of everything else for a while. I was going around collecting ingredients mixing potions and became a wandering potions merchant.
