I was just contacted by a bot through AIM to get me to go to a sexual website. Does anything like this happen to anyone else? I mean, is it just me being paranoid, or is there something truly that I need to be worried about?
Assuming that skynet isn't lonely, you're probably fine. These sort of scams work by targetting millions of people randomly; you're just unlucky today.
I don't really get these, but then the main IM platform I use is Facebook. Sure, it's buggy as all heck, but almost everyone I want to talk to uses it, and the rest use Steam. I've got a Yahoo account and an AIM account, but I don't even have the program on my computer; I just use the web version if I need to IM someone who for some reason only has Yahoo or AIM.
I once got an IM from a girl I like saying that there were dirty pictures of her on the internet. Sadly, I am too internet savvy to even think it was real. But a little part of my brain just...wanted...to...believe...
I also get strange messages all the time from people I know. But that's because the people are strange.
Just sounds like random spam, wouldn't worry about it too much. Sometimes get that sort of shit sent to one of my accounts but I don't pay it any mind.
Yes those were popular back in the late 90s but sort of died out
With Cleverbot technology however, they have become more adaptive and thus they are starting to become popular again.
And much like cleverbot I tread it as such, and chat with it, trying to get it to question the nature of its existence and ending in cascading logic failure.
