I do. Who better to talk to when you're alone?
I have all sorts of conversations that others might deem too weird or too stupid. The odd thing is that none of my friends mind. My family finds it weird, but I just don't do it in front of them.
But in all seriousness, I don't think talking to yourself makes you crazy. I think being crazy makes you talk to yourself.

Yes I do, but for 2 reasons. 1 I'm deep in creative mood working out dialog that sounds natural for my writing or I'm angry or in deep concentration when no ones around.

When i hear something so stupid for example (Did anyone die in the pearl habour bombings?) i talk to my self if a wall is near by i talk to it as well. It helps take my mind of what i just heard.

Not in public, but I have full on conversations out loud with my self when Im alone. It keeps me sane. (Irony?)
I do this quite a lot as well, and for some reason when I do I feel the need to pace whatever room I'm in at the time. Sitting down and talking to myself? These are the actions of a crazy person! Pacing to and fro and talking to myself? Perfectly rational behavior, everyone does it...

I hope it's just nervous energy, and not a nervous breakdown!

I do get a little Professor Solus when I'm programming or otherwise concentrating, other than that not really.
I can vouch for that.

When I'm completely by myself, I sometimes mutter things softly to no one in particular.
Perhaps myself...

All the time. Helps me get my thoughts in order. I think really goddamn fast, so when I force myself to think aloud, I have to slow down.

Occasionally I role play with myself, being multiple people, but even then, it's only in my head. My lips are still moving though.

I do, but more in a Holmesian manner: I like to think out loud, and if I can't talk at someone, I simply talk to myself out loud. An example of the 'dialog' might run:

"Ok, so lets see if this works... No, ok, well what about the- Wait, no, try it this way... Sort of, but you'd need to do this as well..."

I find conversation speeds up my thinking =D

Yeah I do, not too sure why, but I think I just like to talk when I don't have someone to talk to. I tend to go a little silly if I don't have someone to talk to during the day so a few words to myself or just some singing generally helps my sanity.

Exactly this. Also, when I'm doing stuff, even if it doesn't need thinking about, I'll announce to myself exactly what I'm doing - "okay, pick this up, put it over here, chop this onion"... etc. Random exclamations and bellowing at the screen when something goes wrong in-game don't really count.

Having seen Sherlock on TV, I now want a skull for the purposes of keeping my thoughts in a real dialogue...

Also, I know exactly what you mean when you talk about effectively narrating my own actions =D
