This. I'm more into Greece myself, but Rome would be great too. And basically, I'd like to have lived in any ancient civilization. Actually, any period BC. This is something I've been thinking about since as long as I can remember, hence, I ended up studying archaeology. And the more I study it, the more I like the past ages and I would take any of them with all of their flaws. But then again, maybe the future will give us means to visit the past, so I'd also like to live in the future where there's a time machine!RAMBO22 said:Absolutely, I wish I lived in the classical period of history (800 BC-400ish AD) in pretty much anywhere in the Mediterranean, but my top two choices of locations would be ancient Greece or Rome itself.
How amazing would it be to witness firsthand the vibrancy, optimism, and intellectual vigor of Athens? The sprawling civilization and empire of the scions of Aeneas?
Does anyone else ever feel like reading about classical civilization makes the contemporary world seem terrible?
