Do you ever wish you were born in a different era?

This era is probably the best we've had so far... But I do often wish I grew up about 15 or 20 years before I did, So that I could be around my age through the 90's and also get the benefits of living in the present day. I also wish I was around in the 60's or 70's but then I probably wouldn't live as far into the future, so I think I'd rather take the future than the past.


EDIT: Or the Wild West, I'd take that if it was offered, (And if it was actually as awesome as it's made out to be)

i would prefer to travel back in time like 600-400 years ago so i can be like super smart compared to other people. become king of the world cause i know that the mountains arent holding up the sky etc.

Absolutely, I wish I lived in the classical period of history (800 BC-400ish AD) in pretty much anywhere in the Mediterranean, but my top two choices of locations would be ancient Greece or Rome itself.

How amazing would it be to witness firsthand the vibrancy, optimism, and intellectual vigor of Athens? The sprawling civilization and empire of the scions of Aeneas?

Does anyone else ever feel like reading about classical civilization makes the contemporary world seem terrible?

This. I'm more into Greece myself, but Rome would be great too. And basically, I'd like to have lived in any ancient civilization. Actually, any period BC. This is something I've been thinking about since as long as I can remember, hence, I ended up studying archaeology. And the more I study it, the more I like the past ages and I would take any of them with all of their flaws. But then again, maybe the future will give us means to visit the past, so I'd also like to live in the future where there's a time machine!
