And I'm not talking about planting and harvesting crops type of farming. I'm talking about killing a certain type of enemy to get a special weapon or a lot of XP type of farming. I can't really do it.. It just sounds a bit tedious to me. The closest thing I've done to farming is boosting a long time ago in MW2 and killing crawmerax but with both cases the reward was a lot more immediate.

My stepdad farms and usually I have to help him out. He plants both corn and beans and even raises pigs! Yes, it is super busy-work but he enjoys it. I don't have much to do on the crop side of things but for pigs I help load, unload, sort, and even vaccinate.

[sub]I used to farm in games until I got to where I was happy, not so much anymore, I've lost interest in all those big numbers.[/sub]

Nope, but then I've always been a bit odd in that I don't find mind numbingly repetitive tasks fun.

I have no problem with farming. I do it quite a bit in RPGs, usually because by the time you can afford that shiny piece of chain mail, you'll also be at the correct level you need to be for that next boss fight or what not.

Oddly I can't stand grinding for levels but farming for rare item drops I love it and end up doing way too much and burning myself out of the game before i've finished it. The worst case was The Last Remnant on PC I must of put 150 hrs into farming and sidequests before I quit 2/3's into the game. That was enough to teach me to curve my OCD nature with regards to content rich RPGs

Of course! It's the number one thing to do in LoL! Besides getting kills but even then one kill is like... 30?-ish farm so stop those tower dives and keep on farming!

It's really easy to farm and get kills with some Champions. Some even farm Champions for a living! (looking at you Akali/Fizz)

I do my best farming with Irelia. With anyone else getting pushed to my tower is annoying since i'll miss some/all the farm. With Irelia it's lol jk thx for the free and safe farm idiot :D

In single player stuff I generally don't. If I have to excessively farm, the game has done it wrong. Thanks for being awesome Persona 4. 40 hours and I spent only 30 minutes at the end farming.

Fuck you Persona 3: The Answer. You're shit!

Heavens, no. I'm of the opinion that if farming is necessary to succeed at a game then it isn't a good game. I play solely for enjoyment and I don't enjoy farming, so I don't do it. I still rocked it pretty hard in ME3 multiplayer with the starting gear, so I felt that earning extra stuff made things a little bit easier, but not necessary.

This would be why I gave up on Nier, because after a while the gear I had stopped being useful even though I was always able to buy the new gear. Eventually even basic enemies became wars of attrition so I sacked it off.

Not really. I don't play many games with that aspect, and most that do can give me a way to buy the Magical Muffin of +4 Daily Dose of Fibre. If I do, I farm until I have enough money to get the bran flakes, or I find it after I've farmed.

For XP? I've only done it in games where it's absolutely necessary, like Pokemon, when Roxanne uses Rock Tomb for eightieth goddamned time and takes out my Mudkip.

If it involves collecting materials for synthesizing or creating better and powerful items, then yes. I would happily spend hours trying to find the rare enemy that will occasionally drop a valuable and essential item to forge my awesome, new tool for destruction.

when its part of a greater plan to do with crafting of so on, otherwise the only time I would is if I'm stuck at a point so I level a bit to move on

"when in doubt, grind it out"

I do it when i have to but since i spent 40 hours on Blue Dragon farming xp for some achievements i really can't be arsed anymore. It depends on the game i suppose but there haven't been that msny RPGs that benefit from grinding in recent years. Final Fantasy used to be all about grinding but they changed it to the point where it isn't worth it anymore.

Generally no, not unless I?m forced to because I really need something specific from them I can't get any other way and if it requires a lot of farming to get I'll probably just give up on it.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria player reporting in. Farming Reputation with the factions is now almost like breathing to me. Just get some music and alt-tab out to forums once in a while and the time pasts much faster.

You're including grinding in that assessment? Grinding is generally for experience, farming is for items or money (often while staying in one area for monsters or resource points to respawn), killing a bunch of dudes for rare things...can go either way, I think.

I generally don't do either unless it involves a task I find to be fun in and of itself, which actually happens more often than not. I still remember finding myself overleveled in the three Tales games I've played, because I was grinding a certain thing (cooking skill in Symphonia, Katz miniquests in Symphonia 2, and fon slots in Abyss). I just found the combat to be so much fun it was painless and profitable.

Ever think people like farming and grinding ? Hence Why it's STILL in games?

OT: yep i like farming/grind for gear experience /levels/skill points . I find it relaxing and rewarding ,especially when you can see the progress you made. I especially like it when you are grinding for levels / skill points , and it's quicker with small bonuses , than when it takes longer with big bonuses , even though it's practically the same thing . I like big numbers .

Games where grinding was fun

Yeah I've been known to do that when necessary. It's not my favorite thing to do in a game though as it can be quite tedious and boring.
