I farm my farm in Pandaria, but since that didn't count I can only agree with the following quoted message.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria player reporting in. Farming Reputation with the factions is now almost like breathing to me. Just get some music and alt-tab out to forums once in a while and the time pasts much faster.

Just hit level 90 a few days ago. I know there are like 8 reps to grind. Can you recommend one to focus on above all others? I'm guessing the Shado-Pan are of high importance?
Go for Golden Lotus in Vale of Eternal Blossom, they lead into several other reputations so kind of required to get it to Revered.

Also, if you have time for more dailies, the Klaxxi ones are quite easy and gives gear and such.

I do it only when I really need to, like in Persona 4 where I'm almost always underleveled
other than that, no, I tend to avoid annoying encounters
main example being Borderlands 2, in which I just walk around, then I get swarmed with bandits attacking me (which really fucking puffs my jigglies), and they even have the nerve to yell "LEAVE US ALONE"

Yeah, what Lama said. The Shado Pan and Celestial factions will only unlock after you get Revered with the Gold Lotus, and they only unlock if you've completed the Anduin questline where you unlock the valley with the four ancient spirits.

I'd also recommend only doing a rep or two at the same time. Trying to farm them all will just burn you out. As of yesterday, I hit revered with the Order of the Cloud Serpents and the Tillers, and those two are quite easy to do.

If you're into using your professions for money, the Tillers are definitely a must as when you hit revered with them, you can grow motes of harmony to converted into spirits of harmony, which are required for almost all high level items.

For the love of God, DON'T BURN YOURSELF OUT IN DAILIES.

You can't really carry a game in Dota 2 without farming some items, so yes, I quite often do farm.

i used to farm in games, but i rarely do anymore. now i'm pretty known in my gaming circles for going into areas under-leveled and under-prepared and still coming out clean. because my skill level has advanced enough to where i can do that.

i will when i have to though. though i can't promise i'll enjoy it

I do when I feel I need to.

Most recent example would be Dark Souls - been addicted to the thing since release.
Killing those slime creatures and rats in the depths for large titanite shards and humanity respectively. Thankfully I was able to break up the monotony now and again by being summoned to fight the area boss so that, along with a long playlist helped pass the time.

Yup epecially with Guild Wars 2.

Sure the crafting system is cool but I just hate the stupid material requirement needed to make the next higher level armours. Sure getting 3 vemon sacs is no problem but then it's getting 3 fangs and the next is getting any 8 of those! I forgot to mention that it's 3 per armours parts which is 6 making it 18 altogther therefore I need 64 materials when it come to getting 8.
The mosnter don't drop them all the time therefore if I want the next higher level armour. I got to farm abit as playing the game normally doesn't yeild the amount I needed.

Yup I farm. Gives me fun gameplay to grind for awhile. If I can buy whatever it I've trying to farm for fairly cheap ingame coin though I'll always go that route.

Only if exceptionally bad luck is evident (I farmed up a Dahl Hornet in BL2 since I could not find a fucking corrosive gun to save my life...and kill robots).

Other than that, I try best as I can to avoid it and rely on incidental items/bounties.

No. I consider most farming to be grinding since its often a long period of time you have to farm. If its a short farm, then maybe. Also, EE-I-EE-I-O.

It can be cathartic (I wouldn't say "fun") to grind... to let your mind drift away, just going through the motions, as you enter a state of mental emptiness. Becoming one with the controller, and with the universe...

Then you realize you've got two term papers due tomorrow. XD

I do in the cave after the giant snake in Final Fantasy VII to get everyones limit breaks from having to kill so many enemies... er... but I guess that is grinding, not farming. I did farm Crawmerex forever to find a pearlescent weapon, and when I finally found one it was a shitty launcher.
