Do you feel safer around sharks or bears?

Hmmm... I heard bears are faster than they look, but I guess I'd rather face a bear. If I met a shark, I'd be in the water and humans are not built to be purely aquatic. Plus, even if I try to distract it with meat or something, it might just lure even more sharks toward me. If I'm being attacked by a bear, I might be able to distract it if I throw food away. But if that doesn't work or I don't have food on me, I'm screwed.

Ok, this is going to sound stupid but I'm more comfortable with bears because at least they're on land. I live on the land. I know the land. I know I can't outrun a bear but I might be able to outmaneuver it. There is no way I could outmaneuver a shark. I'm in its home turf. It practices swimming every day there is no way I can compete with that.

This depends on the circumstances.
If a shark is on land, I'd make fun of that *****.
If a shark is in water and I'm in water, initiate plan G.T.F.O
If a bear is on land, GTFO.
If a bear is in water, I don't know.

if i'm around a shark it means i'm in a medium i'm really not evolved for - gives me a heightened feeling of vulnerability. sure a shark is then easy to avoid if you can scramble out of the water.. but with a bear at least i know i'm able to perform as best i am able.
intellectually i have no real fear of either, but that isn't enough to stop the hardwired, instinctive response i get around either animal.

I have bears pop up in my neighborhood just about every 2 year or so. so, I feel fine with them around. And all of my colleagues agree that sharks aren't the kings of breathing so I'll be fine around them as well. I AM HOLLOCK I FEAR NO BEAR ,NOR SHARK!

Many ppl. wrote about "outrunning a bear". You cannot, period. Running away will get you killed. There is not the slightest chance of getting away. It is faster, even if you cannot imagine that. Grizzlies can run 35mph/56kmh, can you? And yes, it even climbs better than you.

So if you ever see an aggressive bear in the wild, never ever run if you value your life.

I'd feel safer around a shark. If it were near me, it would either be in a tank or outside of water. Couldn't hurt me either way.

Defiantly a shark, because as long as I dont tempt them too much, they wont go after me. But if the bear gets angry, there is absolutely no way a human can get out of their way, either way, unless you've seriously pissed the two animals off, they wont bother you...

Polar Bears are fucking immense and rather be with just about anything than one of those fuckers. Seriously, Shamus trainer got it easy, Polar Bears are sick.

My favourite animal and I'm too terrified to ever even attempt to see one. Since that day...

THAT MEANS IT'S STORY TIME, KIDS!

Ever since I was a baby I've had a cuddly Polar Bear called Pob. He still is one of my most treasured possessions as it's one of the few things to have survived almost completely intact my entire life.

When I was young I went to Edinburgh zoo. They have(/had) polar bears, I was eager to see one. There was a high wall up the side of the enclosure and I couldn't see over it so my dad lifted me up to see through the big, thick perspex window. I looked in and saw that the enclosure where I was watching was a large pit with a ring of water around by the walls. I looked around but couldn't see the polar bear anywhere...

Suddenly out of FUCKING NOWHERE leaps this HUGE bear right against the perspex where I was watching causing my dad to fall over backwards out of shock. I don't know how the bear managed to jump so high out of the WATER but it was terrifying. I can therefore say I have been closer than a metre to a Polar bear. I still love them and respect them and would hate to see these magnificent beasts go extinct but I hope never to go anywhere near one.

I swear that's a true story, as accurate as my memory allows.
