Its because all the hardcore kids have been sent to bed. Usually more adult players on at these times, Its the same during the day when they are all at school.

As for me, I start to lose interest/gaming ability if I'm really tired. If I'm really hyper, I'm usually not very good either, so I try and maintain a middle-of-the-road mindset for games.

Last night I was playing COD4 for the first time in months, and I was getting raped (as I was expecting). I had about 3 kills near the end of the round (I was doing THAT bad), and I changed classes so I could use my RPD. As soon as I did I got 8 kills in a row, but then the round ended.
It was around midnight, but I'm not sure if it was because I was tired, or if I just got lucky.

I just fluctuate randomly all the time. Some games on Killzone2 I will get top of the table then next game against same people I will drop to low middle. Its infuriating.
Same, I'll randomly pull off a string of headshots, and then suddenly get pistol-whipped by a rettarded toddler...

Quite the opposite, I'll probably struggle with a bit in a game or online at 12 at night but when I get up at 1 in the afternoon I'll blow it away in a few minutes. Tops.

It's just because you play a long sitting and that serves as kinda warming-up.

I find myself playing terrible if I haven't slept enough lately..

I play terribly when I am tired. When I am angry I am a force to be reckoned with though. Other times it is random, sometimes good, sometimes bad.

Not really. In most games my reflexes just go out the window when I get really tired.

Worst case was playing Guitar Hero when I was exhausted. I was sooooo burnt out that I actually forgot I had hands, and couldn't figure how to make the loud noises. I then promptly passed out on the floor.

I play Pool better after 2 beers, after the 6th skill goes out the window.
Quoting for truth. Anything up to 2 or 3 beers and it definitely seems to improve your game, after that it's all downhill pretty rapidly and your confidence becomes inversely proportional to your actual ability.

No, definitely not. I just play really badly if I'm tired and make stupid mistakes. For example, was playing Fallout 3 and managed to walk my character into some water due to being overly tired. Didn't wake up in time to get them out fo the water before my air ran out. :(

Beer on the other hand can prove quite beneficial though...

My gaming level gradually increases with tiredness, spikes and then decreases dramatically.
Though it's not that great in the first place so...

I Usually beast around 7-9pm.

I'm the same way. I was playing Gears 2 a few days ago, and in one game I had two kills by the end, I was that terrible. A few games later I got matched up with a team that included a guy from the previous game, and he started going off about "ugh I have to play with you again" but I ended up with 9 kills that game. Not fabulous, but not at the bottom of the barrel either.

And I can usually play pretty well if I'm tired and it's night time, but I play like absolute shit if I'm just waking up, no matter what time of day it is.

I just play better when I'm relaxed, but i'm with ya on the morning thing, when I'm groggy, don't hand me a controller.

Occasionally yes. The thing in being tired is, that I don´t think too much (because I can´t), but tend to rely on instinct. It´s easier to reach a certain flow in gaming. However, mostly I avoid playing when tired, since fatigue doesn´t go well together with bright and flashing lights.
