Do you gamble?

I just played a game of 21 except you wanna add up to the number 9(I have no idea what it's called in English I played it with a bunch of Chinese friends). Anyway I came in with $3 just for fun and ended up winning around $35(We only bet small because it's just with family).

I even had a "good luck" strategy going on:
I couldn't sit down
Had to pick up cards 1 by one
Couldn't cut or deal the deck.

So does anyone else gamble? Are you lucky and do you have any good luck strategies or anything?

I play alot of poker. Dont really put much money into it though its more for the fun of playing than winning money

I don't gamble really ever, though I will make a bet on a sports game or two with my friends or dad just for the fun of laughing at them for always losing to me.

I used to play poker a bit, but then I stopped once I learned how to do math and found out that it's almost never worth it.

Me and my friends play Poker on Fridays with a 5$ buy-in. To me though its all in good fun.

I tend to play Blackjack often though I don't really play for money in that game.

Edit: Wait I forgot other stuff. I will bet on Sports for fun or if its a rivalry between one of my two home countries (France or England) and one of my friends teams in Rugby or Football. And I will bet on Video Games for fun with friends or with my Dad (stuff like the outcome of a FIFA tournament/Season or 10 cents a round of Twisted Metal 4) but its all in good fun really.

Used to play a little Watten [http://www.pagat.com/trumps/watten.html], which is quite popular here. My sis usually wins little sums when playing with friends. But no, I don't gamble.

I head on down to the Casino occasionally, it's a good night out. Roulette I fail at, seriously, BlackJack though I usually come away with more money than I sat down with.

Mostly I just play the cheap Poker tournaments at said Casino, £10 buy in with a field of 150 people, can be hours of entertainment compared to £10 for 3 drinks which last all of 5 minutes.

I don't.

When I was really young (8 or so) my dad took me to the greyhound races. He asked me if I wanted to bet so I said okay. I bet on dog X, dad went and placed the bet, but he got it wrong, he bet on dog Y instead. I was really upset about this so I begged my dad to change the bet back to dog X, which after a bit of persuasion he grudgingly did (it meant he had to stand in the betting queue a second time). Dog Y won. I took that as a sign that gambling wasn't for me. I haven't bet since that day.

Also I've known two people who've both gone to jail because they got caught stealing money to feed their gambling addictions, plus another guy who has stolen tens of thousands of dollars from his family just to blow it at the casino. He once lost $7000 in one night. That also kind of puts me off the idea a little. I have an addictive personality sometimes and I don't ever want to be that person.

I like going to the dogs every so often, it's a good night out. Place a couple of bets and I've bet on a winner every now and then. I like it enough that I'd like to buy shares in a dog one day

I don't usually bet on the horses, only for the Melbourne Cup, since going to the horses is a bit more of an effort than going to the dogs for me.

And I do enjoy grabbing a scratchie or two every now and then, I had a really good run one day on a bunch of $2 scratchies.

I've only been to the casino once to put a dollar in a game that I didn't know how to play. Will have to go back one day to suss some games out

I used to play cards a lot, mostly poker and several other games I don't know the English names of. I kinda sucked at poker, but I usually won at the other two.

Haven't played in... about 2 years now, though.

Just the other day I made a bet over $10 that my AFL Dream Team would beat his. I lost. I do gamble, but not with conventional methods like cards.

I go to Foxwoods every other weekend, usualy do pretty good when I stick to $1/2 No Limit. I always save 20 bucks to buy into a game of Pot Limit though, just for the lulz, and 20 or so for the slots when I need a break from the tables.

I'll play Blackjack, Paigow, Texas Hold 'Em, Texas Hold 'Em against the casino, slots, roulette, Three Card Poker...

I guess anything that strikes my fancy and I can learn from at the Casino. I have a Horse Track nearby where I bet on horses, but they also train you in the ways of Poker and their assortment of card games.

I tend to do okay in general... at least, I don't lose a lot of the time.
