Do you get upset if Yahtzee trashes a game you like?

Not really, I enjoy it when he likes a game that I like but I don't hate him if he trashes it, I usually agree with him. In fact, I only really buy games if they're under £10 so I don't mind if they're a bit shit in some areas

Nope. It's an opinion. Having an opinion is his job. I may not agree with everything he says, but I'll still find it entertaining.
That. I also find (I believe he has also admitted as much) that he usually doesn't pan the entirety of a game - it's usually a few game play elements, mechanics, etc. that he riffs on. On those occasions where he completely despises the game front to back, I take notice, but I don't let it turn me off a game. My library is very small comparatively speaking, I pick games I will like and that I consider great and worthy of a permanent spot in my library -- which like Yahtzee is based entirely on my own opinion.

That would be like being upset because Republicans or religious fanatics disagree with me.

Not at all. I find his reviews informative and fun to watch. Although he nit-picks and outwardly bashes a game, most of the time that gives me enough information on what to look for as far as what will stress me out about a game. That way I can just say "Yup, I was warned about this." and go on with my enjoyment of the game.

Honestly, Tetris (a game I'm addicted to) stresses me out at times for not giving me the block I want or need, but I still love playing it. His first review of The Witcher actually had me wanting to go out and buy the game regardless of the fact that it was a single player MMORPGer... actually... that was the entire reason why I wanted to play it... because as far as social networks/MMORPG's and the like... I'm pretty set in my ways to not meet with people and bring about acquaintance with others.

I have three really good friends in my life, and that's all I really need since being around too many people stresses me out.

He does give away plot a lot! What a jerk!
He does give away plot a lot, but his videos usually come out a week or two after the game's release when a significant portion of people who will ever play the game already have.

Only time I felt a little saddened was when he slammed Dragon Age 2. I liked it. Combat was vastly improved over the old one. Who cares how enemies spawn as long as you have something to kill?

But hey, he's still as good as he ever was.

I actually enjoy his videos more when it is a game I like. I'm not entirely sure why, maybe it's a masochistic thing. Or maybe I just enjoy seeing the games through another person's perspective. Specifically, someone who is completely insane.

No I don't get upset I laugh just like any other review, and with most of his points I agree.

well...do ya?

while I definetly pay attention if yahtzee actually likes somthing...no not really

this reminds me of the witcher reveiw...I mean was it me or some people were actually unhappy yahtzee didnt like it? I mean it seems like a no-brainer since he doesnt like the first one

and what doesnt it matter anyway? I mean nagativity is pretty much his "thing"

I do however avoid his reveiws on a game that I am going to get or have yet to finish, because I dont want me veiw tainted...plus he gives away plot details alot
No, since it's funny and not entirely serious, and he is basically paid to pick every nit in the game.

Fuck no.

Why would I feel bad about a voice on the Internet not sharing my personal opinions? That's just fucking stupid.

EDIT:
Just to get this out there: No one should take what Yahtzee does for a living seriously. It isn't reviewing, that's for sure. I can agree that his show has some form of comedic value, but that's it.

That is such a ridiculously incorrect statement! Ever heard of the used game market? It seems to be doing pretty well. I usually wait til a game's price sinks to $30 or so before I buy it and that's ages after Yahtzee spoils important plot details.

Why would yet get upset about someone elses opinion? "Do you really need someone in a position of power to say Yay or Nay? why don't you move so they can stomp on the other side of you're face" - Yahtzee

but all quotes aside, i really truly think people are trying to make this a whole bit too intellectual. just take it for what it is. Fun reviews by a narcistic cynical British man who happens to be right.

I admit his TWEWY review bugged me quite a bit but I take his 'reviews' with a grain of salt and decide wither I like a game or not on my own.

I think Yahtzee is great actually, even when he bashes a game I generally agree with the things he is criticizing, but think its good points make up for it. The fact that he dislikes a game is not a personal insult to me.

It's for fun. Most games he trashed were games I liked. It's his job to nitpick and find all the little flaws. That's why we enjoy watching his reviews. Besides, I never take criticism personally.

I don't get to wound up over it, cause well, this is Zero Punctuation that we are talking about. Yahtzee goes out of his way to discuss the serious flaws in EVERY game, especially the most well rated ones. so when he pisses on a game I like, if nothing else it tempers my opinion.

I personally loved how he did not want to thrash Duke as hard as he did cause of what the game was designed to be and how he did not focus on the fact that it was not innovative like other reviewers.
