Do you get upset if Yahtzee trashes a game you like?

Don't really care. Its entertainment for me and he doesn't inform my decisions or thoughts about a game. He makes valid points along the way of course but just because he trashed Pokemon doesn't mean I'm about to rage over it. I pay attention to the games he praises of course but just because he hates a game doesn't mean I'm above at least considering it.

Well I didn't take offense at first by any of the trashing that he did on the games I have played, but a certain "review" in particular did pissed me off, which is Witcher 2.

It may be his opinion in all,but as far as I've gathered from the video,he was just bashing more the PC gamers rather than the actual game. Also not knowing the mechanics of the game or knowing that you can skip the cutscenes which made him quit playing is very low, even by his standards.

Can't say that I took it seriously after playing a few hours into the game, but giving his opinion overall about it and not knowing the basics that are shown in the journal(everything regarding the gameplay is written there,in case you missed the small pop up)is just lazy.He was looking for an opportunity to trash this game and PC gamers even before the game's release.

Conclusion: I don't mind his opinions, but he has to change his mind already if hes a console gamer or a PC one.He can't say hes both when hes arguing about holding hands in console games and when he stumbles upon a game that doesn't he complains again.

That is all.

Not in the least. Like some here though I avoid them if I'm in the middle of play or am hoping to play soon.

My only complaint is when he comments on something that is actually addressed later in the game or is something that maybe he just didn't see. But hey, it's the nature of the business.

Not at all.

Yahtzee speaks his mind about things, and he doesn't always agree with me about everything. For instance, from his last 3 reviews, he liked InFamous 2 a lot more than Witcher 2. I disagree with this - Witcher 2 is pretty clearly superior storytelling [http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/22/arts/video-games/witcher-2-new-from-cd-projekt-red-in-poland-video-game-review.html] but it's also a type of gamplay experience Yahtzee hates vs. InFamous 2, which is a type of experience he loves (see also: Just Cause 2.) I enjoy the fact that he speaks his mind as opposed to my mind about this, because a different perspective about what makes a game enjoyable or good (or what makes gameplay fun) is interesting.

no. In the words of Yahtzee himself, "You should not be effected by an opinion unless there is a ninggling doubt in the back of your head saying that it might be right."

There are games that I like that Yatzee doesn't; the same can be said for the AVGN or the N.Critic. But,No matter whose opinion it is, you'd have every right to like a game. As long as you have a reason for liking the game, anyway.

No, never. Thing is, I usually think he's right for the most part. The difference is that the issues a game may have don't really impact my playing pleasure as much.

I got upset when he trashed DCUO, but that was more because he used it more as an opportunity to rant on comics instead of trashing the actual game, and even then for using methods the gaming industry uses all the time. And the game has plenty wrong with it.

Otherwise, it's just one person's opinion.

I usually just watch the videos for the jokes, but I don't find his comments upseting, some of them are spot on. But in the end the one who has the last opinion about a game is me, so no worries.

He's always very accurate, and if he picks on one particular flaw it's really only because people like it when he does. They like him for his strictness, because frankly what other reviewer is this strict? I haven't seen any official Escapist reviews yet, so they might be strict too. Who knows? But no, I don't get upset when he trashes a game I like because most of the time he's totally, totally right. The respect system in SR2 is arbitrary, not being able to buy more than one thing at a time is a big flaw in Just Cause 2, the Prototype tentacle arm (Whipfist if you still haven't figured out the actual upgrade name and want to buy it) is very overpowered, and so on and so forth. I don't get mad because I find the exact same flaws.

Maybe a bit.. I guess? I mean, I liked Final Fantasy XIII, for instance, and knew damn well he'd be trashing it for the very same reasons I enjoyed it.

That said, if I liked a game, and Yahtzee reviews it.. then I don't watch the review. Not at first anyway. 'Same goes for if it's a game I'm excited to play.

I watch reviews just for entertainment, so the ones I don't watch initially, I eventually come back to when I'm really bored and/or confident in why I like the games in question.

Only if he lies or deceives and he very rarely does that (I actually can't think of an example) as he tends to give very good but personal reasons why he dislikes a game. He gives his preference with explanation, not absolutes.

I realize that he has a limited time to play the games so it might just be an error from incomplete and its a fairly typical tactic in the comedy universe to bend the truth to make a better joke, so it could be that too, but his reviews do bother me when he exaggerates to the point of dishonesty or makes an observation that is entirely false.

I think its partly because I'm just a nerdy kinda person that takes issue with such things and partly because I know much of the fanbase takes his videos as serious reviews and will be parroting the misinformed sentiment.

Nope. It's an opinion. Having an opinion is his job. I may not agree with everything he says, but I'll still find it entertaining.
I agree... that and he hasn't trashed a game I like so I wouldn't know lol

No, i love his reviews but i don't take them seriously. I admit he makes some good points sometimes but i think his reviews are to be taken with a grain of salt.

no, because almost everything he says rings of truth, so he rarely ever has a complaint that isn't true. his halo 3 review for instance talked about how he didn't understand the hype because he never played the first two games, which is understandable, because the game is rather exclusive to the people who didn't play the previous ones. also, he felt the game was mediocre, which I agree with, considering he didn't play the multiplayer. it was the multiplayer I felt was exceptional, not the campaign.

Do you get upset when a newly born, untrained puppy pisses on your rug? Sure it doesn't make you happy, but you don't get mad its just what they do.
