Do you get upset if Yahtzee trashes a game you like?

No way, entertainment is entertainment!
Regardless of my lovely history of loving bad games, I tune in for the dickgayboobcorporationbashing excellence.

Nope, I usually just

along with all the haters.

I don't watch Yatzhee for his opinions, I watch his "reviews" for their humor. Often the games' problems are far, far too exaggerated to be an accurate review.
Same here. I'm actually not a hater, but I don't really think the point of his reviews are to be fair, they are to be iconoclastic.

Like MovieBob, only with a British accent.

Although, I find that I usually agree with both guy's points of view, so...I don't know.

I can't really think of a time when that happened. Seems like Yahtzee and i have similar tastes because a few of the games he praised i either already liked or wound up liking, and i'm not the type of fucking idiot who thinks that just because i like something it should be above criticism contrary to what my nationality might suggest. GOD BLESS AMERICA MY ASS!!!

Sorry. Hypothetically if that did happen, i probably wouldn't care. Yahtzee seems to remember that he's a critic and does his best to add validity to his claims and like i said, i don't mind criticism. If i were a developer i'd actually go to Zero Punctuation for reviews rather than GameSpot so i can get that biting criticism and have a good idea on what areas i need to improve on and wouldn't care if i was invited to go eat a piece of broken glass shaped like a cock.

Remember Yahtzee is paid to satirize and exaggerate flaws and annoyances in video games (that others over-look) both real and imaginary.
Unlike reviewers at IGN and Gamespot he has less than a week to play, make an animation for, and review a video game. As such, his reviews may only skim the surface, and leave an incredibly different impression on viewers.
He regularly ignores the aspects that make a video game attractive to its players, unless they're ground-breaking innovations that haven't been done by any other games before.

Hilarous?
Often.
True and accurate?
NOT always.

I've had my annoyances with the occasional bits of inaccurate information coming from zero punctuation:

1. Halo Reach: Little variety and only one flying mission and one bit with the jetpack?
INCORRECT: he only played campaign and so didn't experiment with customizable game types
and firefight. Also there's are at least 4 missions where you get to fly around
(one with the falcon in a crumbling city), must have slipped his mind when he reviewed it.

2. Portal 2: He also complained about the interactive cutscenes dragging on,
which is kind of sad as single player was intended as a "story driven experience".
He also didn't mention any of the new game play features that were added in.

3. Witcher 2 (assassins of Kings): Unskippable cutscenes, way to difficult and unforgiving
combat, ridiculously long and grinding game play?
According to the user comments, there was a lot of miss-information:
cut scenes can be skipped with a single button, there is an "easy" option, and the game is
only about 40 hours.
He also overstepped the threshold of professionalism when he implied that all
fans had were ex-workers at the "d* sucking factory".

DISCLAIMER: I haven't played Witcher 2,
but I'm thinking of getting it after getting a second opinion from reviewers at IGN, Good Game and GameSpot.

I don't find it offensive when he pans a game I like,
but I do get a bit irritated when he occasionally releases incorrect/misleading information to the masses.

But I see your point.
He is often misled on his "opinions," but I don't believe it is because of ignorance. I think he just does it for the comedic effect.

Actually, whenever an internet comedy writer trashes a game I enjoy, I take it as a deep personal insult because of how much it affects my ability to enjoy the game myself. I post an extremely angry and threatening comment on the video, then for good measure I send an email to the reviewer promising his untimely death. I then spend the rest of the day sitting in my room in a bad mood, masturbating to internet porn.

I prefer the reviews of games I own, because I get all the jokes. If I really like the game, it's fun to see someone talking about it. When he inevitably tears it apart, I can laugh at what I enjoy.

I love RE5 and his review made me cack myself (figuratively speaking), simply because it is so true (Sheva that is), even if it is slightly exaggerated.

OT: People get insulted when a critic criticises a game?

Not at all. He's a hard guy to please. He's also making a show that revolves around making comedic reviews. He has to find enough flaws in the games of today to make a show. The only time he hasn't even ridiculed a game is Portal. Everything else to him is flawed, even if he finds it to be good.

I never do. The one game he had the chance to annoy me with was Shadows of the Colossus, which was the one game he could have criticized and would have lowered my opinion of his reviews.

And he loves it just as I do. Obviously I don't enjoy that many games these days.

No because it is his personal opinion and he is entitled to one. I can't be bothered getting upset over someone elses opinion, life would be boring if we all liked the same things. I do immensely enjoy his rantings and that is what keeps me coming back every week.

CAPTCHA: Gellius statence. Is he like inglips high priest or something?

Negative criticism is more entertaining than positive criticism. Any successful critic is the one who points out the glaring flaws and only gives it praise if it does something spectacular. This is their way off challenging the producers to make games that meet their standards and enriching the medium as a whole.

In other words, giving something a bad review is just like giving a kid an "F." Yeah, it's disappointing, but if the student cares, he'll do better next time around. Why would I be offended by someone trying to improve things I already enjoy?

Every game that I love he hates, and he often brings up valid design flaws in this "BEST GAEM EVAR" I've been playing.

He has some of the most hilarious opinions about games, and I love him for it (no homo).
