As I understand it, the hate began when Twitter kept promoting him way too much, so that everyone just got sick of him, which is why the metalheads started to attack his videos. And once the hatemobile gained steam, it was able to function off of its own power and never really stopped.
As for me, I hated him during that Eric Douglace nonsense. But when that just turned out to be a troll, over time my hate died down to a vague dislike and an understanding that he's just another teen pop star who probably has a limited shelf life. If he disappears in a few years like people say he will, okay. If he manages to adapt and reinvent himself like Justin Timberlake did, good for him. But as for me, I'm just getting a little tired of hearing about the guy, whether positive or negative.

"Hate" is such a strong word. I try to avoid using it in any instances that aren't hyperbole.
That being said, pop as a whole is a genre I don't typically go out of my way to listen to. There is some pop I like, some pop I'm indifferent to, and some pop I wish would stop being shoved into my face. Technically, the Biebertron falls in to the category of pop I'm indifferent to. By pop standards, it's not bad, but at the same time it's nothing I would ever listen to if I were not forced.

No, because I met him. I was doing acoustics in a dutch concert hall and had to do some soundchecks with him and without having to hold up his usual appearances he's actually a nice kid who just as much as you realizes that his music isn't very good, but way he sees it 'I make a shitload of money of it so why should I care.' Which is kinda the only attitude that works when you get that much hate.
Nah, I don't hate him more than envy him. Seriously I wish I had that much Media coverage. Make it as a "artist", which then I could use such fan base to get a more meaning full message out. I don't think the guy realizes that he has a lot of people *girls* under his control.

I respect him. He showed that an artist doesn't have to cheat his way to the top and also that internet-based musicians might just get a break. I don't like his music or how he is treated or the fact that he's home schooled or the fact that he is now forever pigeon holed into pop crapyness, but still.
