Do you hate the game or the people who play it?

it definitely depends on the game, some games i fucking hate the game but some of the people are nice so its barable to play with friends, some games i hate the game and then the douchebag elitists or pricks come along and make me hate it even more, but sometimes i do like a game but the douchers with the cheese strategies come along, so i just bear with it..

its all different from game to game, but it can be either or both

I saw this post and said to myself, "oh if there was ever a time to register to this site".

So, here's my opinion:

I blame the game for poor mechanics and rewarding unhealthy gaming behavior like camping, spray 'n' praying, and explosives spam.

Its this that keeps me from enjoying the game.

I blame the community for being a bunch of kids armed with broken microphones who love simplicity and despise anything that requires thought. It did not take long for me to first hate the players who used ridiculously overpowered guns and then hate the developers for not fixing it.

That keeps me from playing the game.

So there it is.

Love me or hate me for that post.

Although I am not a fan of MW2's unbalanced bullshit multiplayer, I would've had much more fun had it not been for the god-forsaken douchebag twelve-year-old brigades that plague that mess of an online component.

I usually hate the game, but I also hate rabid fanboys/fangirls. I tend to hate FPS games, especially ones set in a war zone or outer space. I don't care if someone else likes them as long as they don't force me to play them or have a giant hate rant because I don't like their favorite game and my taste in games is wrong.

A game has never been ruined for me because of the players. It just tends to suck more but I don't mind.

When a game's mechanics allow for unfair, unbalanced or 'noobish' tactics and techniques, there will always be those who abuse it and those get angry about the abuse.

I've already been through a lot of it in my MW2 anger thread but I guess it's the same in any walk of life when something is competitive.

Honestly, don't hate the game, hate the players. Halo and COD get bashed relentlessly for having douchebags infesting the games but every multiplayer game has this problem. Just ignore it.

Because the only multiplayer games I play are fun/co-op things like TF2 or Need for Speed, I usually end up hating the devs and game design when I get frustrated, because everyone else is just having a good time. But since I steer clear from multiplayer games like Halo or Cod, I'm rather unfamiliar with the concept of playing with a bunch of pricks.

And I went into this thread expecting some philosophical discussion about life, not videogames :p

Depends on the game if it's a game like, to use your example, Halo, I hate the game, so I really don't care about the players of the game cause I'm probably never going to play with them. But if it's a game like Modern Warfare 2 (A pretty good game in my estimation, even if the single player so criminally short it deserves to be killed in public) where the average player is probably either a Douchebag, a Fucktard or both, well that sorta ruins the entire game for me. It's why I almost never venture into online games.

I think that a lot of the time, my experience of multiplayer is ruined either because the game sucks (MW2) or because I suck at playing it (SC2). I don't really seem to have a problem with other people's behavior or speech. I mostly just rage at games because I'm getting killed constantly, or right before I was about to do something cool. It's not even about winning or losing. I can go 6 and 5 in a game of MW2 and be on the winning team, but I'll still kick myself for not doing better.

Yes it is safe to say that I hate every son of a ***** on Xbox live (you guy are ruining the video game industry)
and anyone who drools over Halo, Call of Duty, Madden or any other EA sports game, Grand Theft Auto, Post 7 Final Fantasy, Metal Gear and anything that involves a FAKE Guitar/Drum/Turn Table.

and yes I have played most of the games (not Madden of course ,Madden sucks) listed above and I don't hate the games themselves just the over hyper fans of the games

I'm in the same position as your friend. The Halo community isn't entirely comprised of little arrogant kids and pompous jocks/gangsters. It just makes up a lot of the Halo population. Those with mics anyways.

I usually hate the people.

They take the cheapest, easiest tactics and spam them. Before you know it, everyone is relying on the easy way out.

A little of both
I had MW2 and loved the SP
When i went to MP i almost threw it out a window
I had just started multi player
and the matchmaker apparently thought it was a good to put me against full prestige'd players?
And the fanbase for most streamlined crap are generally terrible
So honestly The players mostly

Most of the time it's the people who play it. Both Halo and Modern Warfare 2 are technically perfect games. They work fine, environments are cool and both take you to a wide variety of places. Storywise? Decent but not great, not bad either........but once you throw in online multiplayer? That's when I start hating the game, because the players just ruin the whole experience of the game
