Do you have anger issues while gaming?

When I was young, I used to get furious at games. I'd hit a spot I couldn't beat, and I'd scream at the television and throw controllers and such. It was even worse when I gamed against others. I almost got in a fight during a Halo lan-party because my friend kept hitting me from across the map with a rocket launcher.

I remember my mom used to say "if you're not enjoying the game then stop playing," but to me beating the game was highly important, and my emotions got the better of me.

I grew out of this at some point during college. Basically, having adult responsibilities made me realize that gaming was supposed to be fun escapism, not a way of life. Now when I play a game, and start to get frustrated, I stop playing, because I have way more important things to do if I'm not having fun.

That, or I'll just lower the difficulty for that section to get past it.

I don't really play multiplayer games, because I still don't like losing, but when I do it no longer fills me with rage like in my youth.

So how about everyone else. Do you get angry while gaming? How do you deal with it?

The closest I get to getting angry at games is when I'm on an inferior team in a multiplayer match. Thankfully, I don't play anything like DotA or LoL, only shooters online. That way, if my team's useless and there's no way we'll win the match, I can just stop trying as hard and have fun killing people, unlike in LoL for example where I'd be severely out-leveled and therefore useless.

I'm generally pretty laid back when gaming. That's not to say I'm a robot and don't get frustrated sometimes, but I've never thrown a controller or "raged" at a game in my life.

Depends on the game. For instance, I recently played Punch-Out on the Wii for the first time. Now that's one of the most frustrating games I've ever played, but I loved it. I knew the fuck ups were my own fault. That game filled me with determination, and honestly beating those guys is the most satisfied I've ever felt with a game.

But some games try to just be brutally hard to try and make up for other shortcomings, and with those games...yeah, I rage, and then quit. I'm not gonna dedicate my time to something like that.

I tend just to switch off while gaming, to the point where the people I live with often check to make sure I haven't fallen asleep or something. The only thing that alerts people to the fact that I am actually doing something is when they see my thumbs moving on the controller and that things are moving on the screen. I have been told the only time I am really still is when I game, as I constantly fidget, so I don't get angry when I am playing video games. My brother on the other hand, is a completely different story...

Nope, I've never gotten angry while gaming. Frustrated, sure... but not angry. I've had friends who would get to that point though.

In high school I had a friend who put an X-Box controller through a wall because no one wanted to play the same map as him in Halo 2. I don't remember the name of the map, but for whatever reason he was godlike on it with a sniper rifle; every single other map he was at best average. The rest of us didn't want to play it again because we'd already played it three times in a row by his demand.

I really can't even comprehend getting that angry over something as trivial as a game. Granted, I'm a pretty laid-back person, and I can count the number of times in my life I've been angry about something on one hand.

I've always been incredibly competitive, sometimes to the point of certainly losing my temper over losses. It's gotten better over the years and since I stopped playing multiplayer games so much. I sometimes get angry when I feel my losses are due more to the game than to me, but other than that, the most I may get is dejected at my own lack of skill.

I used to be like that. Now I usually keep it to a simple 'bullshit...' or 'learn to play asshole' in a normal tone and keep playing. So the insults at whatever went wrong are still there, I just don't rage with it any more.

I hated that line. My mom would use it and I would glare at her sometimes because it made me even madder. She just didn't understand, I thought, and it wasn't that simple. It was a challenge, and I couldn't simply just drop it and quit right then.

I used to get pretty upset. There were a few dents in my wall from where I'd slam the controller against the wall in a fit of rage. I got in trouble a few times for sure.

I'm not that bad anymore. I'll still raise my voice and yell at a game if I'm getting really mad (Street Fighter 4 comes to mind), but once that happens now I turn the game off, or play something else. And I end up selling a game that gets me that angry, because it's simply not worth the rage.

When I played Call of Duty (last one I played was Black Ops), I'd get angry whenever I kept consistently losing in TDM, and the match making kept me in that losing team, I also remember getting angry playing GTA 4's online mode for a variety of reasons. Assassins Creed multiplayer also frustrated me when I couldn't get a kill for like 5 minutes or people kept killing me or my target as soon as I got the contract.

I don't know if I have anger issues, I'd swear in my mind or out loud if no one was around or start ranting in my mind or out loud, I've never thrown a controller or broke anything though. I'd like to think I'm more mature now and keep the 'if it's not fun don't play' mindset but I don't really know I haven't played an online game in a while.

30 DAMAGE ON A SINGLE SHOT?! FUCK YOU ARCHERS!

Of course they would ignore everybody else and run alllll the way through the rest of the team to oneshot the Pegasus unit at the back. Of course.

OT: Only rarely, for some reason I get angry at bullshit deaths in singleplayer games but multiplayer is usually fine. I play League and stuff so that's pretty surprising.

In particular, AI Rachel in BlazBlue can fuck right off, I know Unlimited Hazama is overpowered as fuck but at least you can HIT the guy. Also the AI in UMVC3's story mode on the harder difficulties are stupid. I'm not really going to say "hard" really, just stupid. They are literally looking at your button presses and IMMEDIATELY countering them with a stronger move, seriously play that and you'll understand immediately what I mean.

Fire Emblem AI has no intention of winning. It solely desires to cause you endless suffering.

OT- It depends. Lately I've been a bit more stressed than usual with finals, so I haven't been taking my games in league all that well (not to mention that my recent games I've either been support and had to deal with an adc who couldn't tie their own shoelaces or jungle and had to deal with a whole team who couldn't tie their own shoelaces, but at least I get to play wukong then). Usually I don't get that mad though. My friends tend to laugh after I apologize for raging after a game due to how mild I am about it. I just am not that good at being angry.

Not since I killed all the people who were causing the issues! Hahaha!

Oh, all right. Yeeeees, I used to feel quite like that a lot. I struggle to understand the thought processes behind it now. Nowadays, if a game isn't providing me with fun, I just leave it alone for a while. It certainly helps to stay away from many multiplayer games.

not at all, at worst id ragequit in a multiplayer game or tell my team we dont need 4 snipers and 3 spies

in singleplayer games at worst ill sigh and curse the screen because rogue legacy had no right to put such bullshit room at the entrance of the castle, the new game+ in that game can be a real *****

i do get a bit agitated when im a losing streak in RTS multiplayer matches

overall, despite the fact id describe myself as someone who can be easily overtaken by his emotions, i dont think ive ever raged significantly at a video game, maybe when i was younger and even then not that much, just the usual kid stuff, getting mad a boos i couldnt beat, and not letting my siblings play or asking for a rematch after rematch when i lost in multiplayer games, or course it never happened all the time

I only show frustration when something sets me back an overt amount of time.

I never really get worked up about multiplayer, but if a stupid mistake in Dark Souls undoes the last hour, or God forbid, a glitch makes me backtrack a ridiculous amount of progress? That's when I'm miffed.

Not usually. In single player games just stop playing though it can be frustrating if you lose progress. In multiplayer it can be a bit different because I don't want to ditch halfway through something. I can get pretty pissed off if I have a stupid team or team member. I don't mind losing and I don't mind having to explain stuff to newbies. I do mind someone who is ignoring instruction and getting themselves and other repeatedly killed or gets you team kicked from a dungeon halfway through or at the final boss as it was in one case (this can happen in GW2 unless they have change it now since the dungeon instance is tied to the first to enter. If they leave everyone gets kicked) especially if they are abusing everyone else. I don't rage on chat because of it though. I seethe in silence unless they say something particularly bad I want to reply to.

I went through a phase, yes lets call it that, a phase in which I had....hardware issues upon getting stuck in an uberhard game. I was very competitive at the time. If I liked a game, I played it until it was beaten in every way that it could be beaten. MMOs slowly cured this affliction since MMOs can't technically be beaten. I still play the latest big single-player games when not in a scheduled raid or major world event in whatever MMO I'm connected to. I just don't obsess and instead divide my time evenly between the games.

Did someone just give me an excuse for a League discussion? I believe so.

If you're one of those who hate to support but still get stuck with it I would just recommend picking Soraka. Funny that a few months ago I swore that Soraka was the absolute worst support in the game and nothing would shake that belief. Then they changed her passive to something anywhere near relevant and oh now she's super good. Max Q first, start with a full Sightstone rush and build full AP. Rylai's or Liandry's first major item (maybe a gold item as well if you want) nobody sees it coming. She's supposed to be a pure health/mana battery right? She can't all-in effectively at all. Well now with my professional build and skill path she can and she's perfect for carrying that braindead guy who just won't stop walking into stuns...

Also Wish is super hype. LIVE YOU FUCKS!

I dislike how pretty much everyone plays nothing but AP carries as supports now. Annie, Morg, Zyra etc etc aside from Thresh (I don't really see very many effective Leonas anymore.) Thresh being 100% broken at all times because he can do everything and that lantern is the best move in the game. 'S why I don't play bot much anymore. I try to learn Vayne but they always have some hellish lane like Lucian/Annie and Vayne is just super squish all game long.

I'm gonna learn Rumble for my first proper top lane (Level 30, Silver 2, owns every character, still has no idea how to play top. Get on my level) because of the TTGL Rumble skin that's coming out. Oh god I can see it now... Every 1v1/gank/attempt on my life is going to have me shouting something about who the hell I am.
