Do you have any "positive" racist opinions or stereotypical views?

An interesting discussion at work today towards positive stereotypes some of us believe in. Like how every Asian woman is attractive til they reach the age of sixty or so. Racist sort of, but not necessarily negative.

For example, I've lived in a few different places during my life. And I can without a single doubt say that nobody throws a barbecue like a black man. Seriously, they get tons of people! Tons of them!

And they are all friendly and never seem to fight even after the excessive alcohol intake if there is any alcohol at all, which there rarely is for some reason. Mostly it is just food, delicious food!

So there you go, stereotypical, but not negative. ^^

Also: Every single Indian person I've met makes great salads and other vegetarian dishes. Why is this?! Even if they are bad cooks the salad itself is awesome.

I'm trying to think of something but I seem to judge people more through their country than by the color of their skin.

Ultimately, there's no such thing. Now, you can wrap up your prejudice in a veneer of beneficence, but it leads to the same thing in the end.

If it's countries it still counts as stereotypical. So go ahead and share your thoughts with the group.

East Asian people have the most adorable babies and infants. Fact. I can't really think of much else right now, other than most of the Americans I've met have been ridiculously friendly.

That's not necessarily true. That's like saying although having handicap parking for disabled people is positive discrimination, in the end you'll end up negatively discriminating against them.

OT: Asians have the cutest babies? Black men age well. Blue/green eyed white people are SOOOO good looking.

That's all i got.

Oh you know the usual stupid assumptions based on global pop culture bombardment. English are witty, Australians are genial, Japanese are disciplined, etc.

I'm finding more and more that I'm not at all enthralled by white guys who play the blues.

I mean, the whole British explosion thing was important and produced excellent music but...I'd never put the Yardbirds anywhere near, say, John Lee Hooker in my estimation.

Also Eric Clapton is balls boring.

Not saying that every black bluesman is untouchable, and yeah, Gregg Allman is a thing, but while we're generalising etc etc.

OH NO, I remember hearing that one from Karl Pilkington! Something along the lines of "They don't age well. The young ones look gorgeous, but they age overnight, like a pear". I don't think I've ever had my face in my hands for such a length of time before. I don't know if he realizes what he says, I think he's just not very widely-traveled (apart from the TV series).

OT: One I get from a relative is that the Americans he meets are always giving him armfuls of gifts and things, smiling widely and shouting things like "Hey, get a loada this" and "Fill yer boots, man!" Not a single "Yeehaw" to be heard, though.

I myself have noticed that you could probably get away with murder on the London Underground, because if you act mad enough everyone will ignore you. If you smile at them, they will likely give you the entire carriage to yourself, sensing an oncoming stabbing.

Canadians are kind, polite and very good at Hockey.
Germans are very organized and efficient.
Russians are tough, strong and just don't give a damn.
British people are classy.
And basically all Asians are smart.

Every German I've met has been crazy organized and punctual so there may be some truth in that one. Also, I'd like to think we Irish are as friendly as people think.

Black men are fantastic. I feel so at ease around them, they always come across as really friendly and outgoing. Jamaicans especially are hilarious. My distant cousin married a Jamaican and I used to go to family parties solely so I could see him. Sadly, they're divorced now so I don't think I'll see him again but he was a top bloke.

Asian women (and a lot of the men) are beautiful. I'm talking all of Asia here, Chinese, Japanese, Indian etc. Their hair and eyes are so gorgeous and they're usually so lovely and slim, their skin tones are to die for too.
I think it's because they're so different to me I find it enthralling. The South Asian style of clothing is pretty too and their weddings look like a ton of fun. Their cooking is usually lovely too.

Americans and Canadians seem hella friendly and enthusiastic.
Germans are great, hard working guys and their food/items over there are superior to ours. I want to go to Germany D:

Black people are resistant to sunburn.

Seems like most everything in this thread is national/cultural in origin. Maybe I'm just deluding myself but I don't think I have preconceptions of anyone based on that even though I probably have some about the culture in bulk.

Mid/South Asian people are so friendly and are tons of fun to work with. I work with a lot of them, and they're a hoot near-universally.

I gotta say that I quite enjoy the Brits as well. :D

(I am half american aswell so no one can call me racist for saying it haha.)

Nevertheless though in the time Ive lived in America, (roughly 3/4 of my life.) The point about being 'overly' friendly, I shall add that atleast in my experience, henceforth I can't say every single one of them, but for the most part, it all seemed shallow. Things like going to church every Sunday, yes there are some devout christians Im very sure of that, but alot of the people I met would complain about having to go there, but went there nonetheless. Whereas I questioned this then along the lines of 'doesnt it say in the bible that god can hear you every where...is there some kind of megaphone in church so he can hear you better?'. Upon recieving the answer of (made-up name..) "well Bob is there with his family every Sunday aswell even though he hates it." So alot of the things in my experience that leans on that 'overly friendly' area is a shallow mask Ill say, to project that they were 'there' when needed and werent acting like complete douchebags. So its more of a character, if you will. An outward persona other people would percieve them as. As spoken, its from my experience up to now so Im not sticking everyone into the same cupboard because I have met genuinely friendly people there. Ill just add again that Im half american...

Here's a positive stereotype for you. There's something about people from the UK, (Southern) The Republic of Ireland, Australia and New Zealand that makes them want to travel. It's almost as if it's in their blood, which isn't that far off from the truth in an historical context.

When I lived in different parts of the US, I ran into people from those countries the most, and strangely enough, they tended to travel in threes. Now, I don't hold any of the negative stereotypes that residents from those areas have against each other, so whenever Aussies came to town it was always a blast (any game we played, it was always "Aussie Rules"). Actually, everyone was a blast, and polite to boot.

It was always impressive when I heard how they came to travel, usually around the world. One trio of girls came from England after saving up for one year. They stopped for several months in, I think it was Malaysia, where they worked at a hotel for some more cash. Then they made their way to Boston, which is where I met them. Another time I was in Seattle, and met more Brits/Scots/Irish/Aussies/Kiwis at the local youth hostel, including the hostel offshore on Vashon Island. They were all good people, and smart travelers. They mostly traveled light, had the cash and the brains to mail all of their souvenirs back home, and never EVER left home without travelers' insurance. There must be some sort of inherent curiosity they possess that overpowers the fear of the alien and unknown.

Uh...I guess white people can't jump, but they sure can hit white balls on green grass real well.

Most male homosexuals I know aren't slobs.
They're good at keep themselves, and their homes, clean.
