I really want to start and MMO to occupy my time but I don't have any money so I was wondering if you Escapists knew of any Free MMO's I would greatly appreciate it. Also should I consider starting WoW?

I remember one called 9dragons, from what I remember it was fun. And do a trail of wow, if you like it go for it, if not, don't.

I liked Mabinogi if you want something big... there was also another called Rapellz or something close and that wasn't too bad. I made it to level 16 before i got bored and for an MMO that's good.

Well there's always Runescape. Heh.

Just prepare, with MMOs, for addiction.
Runescape is a horrible choice it hooks you in with quick level ups and you think wow this is easy and fun. Than they get harder so you think ooh I'm almost there and than last I'm almost at level 99 lets do it. I've played it I got addicted but I don't care for it anymore.

I watched the video for it. How does the combat work?
to be truthful it's been quite some time since I've played any MMO since I fall out pretty easy but if i remember right then it was either the same or similar to WOW. just basically point and click. The big thing about Mabinogi was that you could distract yourself from fighting with like playing music and other menial tasks.

Kingdom of Loathing is absolutely hilarious and pretty easy to pick up. If you don't mind playing a game with a framerate so fast YOUR EYE SOCKETS WILL IGNITE.

I should also point out the only MM features of this MMORPG are a chat box, trade and guilds.

I had some good time with this back before I lost interest, it's not the games fault it just happens to every mmo I ever played...

Mabinogi!
The combat is pretty simple to pick up, new content is added pretty often, events are cool, and there's just a lot of stuff you can do in it, with no set path at all. I like that there's no pressure to grind.
Combat is pretty much point and click, with slight alterations depending on what skill you are using.

WoW is one of those games that can be a great amount of fun doing absolutely nothing. Looking back, I spent 98% of my time dicking around and I still have a degree of nostalgia for the game. The main part of the game is endgame raiding and PvP, which can be reached in about a month.

It's fun, just don't be surprised when you become a crack addict over it. But, as with all MMOs, I suggest you try the trial first.

in that case? no
Well you took my words out of context so I'm not even going to defend myself on that one.
no need for defence because it wasn't an attack. And I didn't take something out of context, I just shortened your post to your financial aspect and the question about WoW - the context is still the same. I only wanted to reply that WoW isn't a good idea when having no money, because there is high potential of getting addicted to it - which leads to paying monthly fees.
no attack - just logical combination of your situation and your question and the serious advise against WoW.

Well your wrong because if you had of left it IN context you would have realized I said should I consider, implying that I could save money to start it.

If you want just something that you will mindlessly click on..it doesnt matter that much, just choose the one with nicer graphics/theme that suits you.

If you want to play MMO more seriously, dont even bother with F2Ps, they aint F2P in the end and costs of high-end gaming is larger than monthly fee for paid MMOs.

At any rate, most of current MMOs are either still too buggy or over-developed to start with them. Personally id wait for next year/late this year when hopefully some new supposedly decent releases come out.

Well, maybe it's because English isn't my native language but as far as I know 'considering' doesn't necessarily imply saving money for something, just reflecting an idea.
If the fact having no money hasn't anything to do with your considerations about WoW then why are you bringing it up?

whatever, I just wanted to help. if you aren't interested in it but prefer flaming and feeling personally attacked so be it. I don't care anymore
