I ally myself with the best and brightest of my area on the gaming front. Together we play Warhammer 40k on most Saturdays, Dungeons and Dragons on most Sundays, Rock band on whatever day we feel like, and we all pursue our own gaming favorites.

Before someone "special" makes a crack about not having time for real life and relationships, most of us have relationships, more then a few of them long term, and there are even a few hardcore girl gamers among us. We all just made friends who share our interests.

Other than my wife, no. All my friends are either sports fans or fellow accounting/business majors. Not a (hardcore) gamer in the bunch. Some of them play the occasional game of Madden or Halo, but neither they nor I (nor anyone here if countless rants on the subject are to be believed) would self-identify as "gamers". They're business guys or jocks or math geeks, but not gamers.

I have friends that play games. The ones that play games a bit more than average only play on consoles and games like COD and Halo, and the ones that play a bit...well, they play Wii games and Combat Arms and stuff.

So I don't really have many friends interested in hidden and non advertised games...maybe one.

I've got a fair few gaming friends, many of whom I can call up 2 come round and play local or system link (while drinking of course) or whom I can chat with over Live.

About 3/5's of my friends on xbox live I know in real life. Family/uni etc
And about 1/5 I don't know, but talk to, be in parties with several times a week.
And 1/5 I don't really know, but have added after playing games together at some point or another.

I have several. We all like the same games, too (TF2, Assassin's Creed, Rome: TW, the upcoming Borderlands, etc.). it's pretty great. Unfortunately, they all love the shit out of their 360s, and I'm a PC kind of guy, so multiplayer is a rare occurrence.
