BOC, albums spectres and agents of fortune.
Also wasted years by Iron maiden. Hurricane by Bob Dylan.

Or some power metal by Children of Bodom, because there is no depressing sounds in that band.
Nitpicking here. CoB isn't power metal.
Well its Power Metal with many extreme influences, they are often labeled as Melodic Death Metal, but thats incorrect, and this subgenre is often mislabled due to many of the bands switching to Alternative Metal.

But COB is Extreme Power Metal.
Blah blah blah. Do we really need to pigeonhole everything? CoB are metal and that's good enough.

OT: "Hooker with a Penis" by Tool or "Bob's Party Time Lounge" by Primus. Or "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson. That song rules.
It shouldnt matter what genre it is while listening, but a fan of Metallica is a metal fan, and a fan of Burzum is a metal fan, but if the Metallica fan decides to search for some new metal band to enjoy, Burzum will be a nasty suprise to him. Basicly it makes a few things easier with genres.
But "Extreme Power Metal"? Seriously? Power metal is supposed to be over the top, and therefore extreme. I would personally lump CoB more into a thrash/power combo. I just think the labels get ridiculous. There are times where specific terms are useful for classification, but mostly it's unnecessary.

-Cowboys From Hell - Pantera
-I Wanna Rock - Twisted Sister
-Rock You Like A Hurricane - Scorpions
-Still Of The Night - Whitesnake
-Back In The Day - Megadeth

-Almost any Mötley Crüe or Guns 'n Roses song
-Lots of Aerosmith songs, Avenged Sevenfold songs, Poison songs, Skid Row songs, KISS songs.
-8-bit music (the music from the NES Turtles games is very effective, especially the first and third games)
-Vivaldi or Chopin - even Tchaikovsky
-Count Basie, Coleman Hawkins and the likes, also some Mahavishnu Orchestra, Vital Information, Chick Corea.

I also go for Yes, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Foghat, ZZ Top, Thin Lizzy, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, and many more. Lots of rockabilly or 70's punk, even some pop-punk or college rock.

And on and on and on. . .

My guilty pleasures include Prodigy, Pink and some hardstyle techno.

Basically - it's not so much any specific songs, it's a situational thing, I guess... although there's no blues on this list, and I have to admit I doubt I'd head for my black metal collection if I was down xP

Any Beatles, Queen, Coldplay and Bob Dylan song.

When most group tries to pressure me down, Minority by Greenday always puts a smile on the face.

Suteki da Ne (Isn't It Wonderful?) [Orchestral Version]
Succeeded Wish ~Piano Solo~
Small Two of Piece
And virtually anything by Il Divo with The Man You Love and Mama as my favorites.

By those I mean one of those songs that no matter whats going on in life, how good or how bad, always manages to make you feel loads better, mine is 'Rebel Rebel' by David Bowie, don't ask me why it just seems no matter the shitstorm (like now) I feel better after listening to it.

So I ask do you have one of these songs? If yes what is it and why?
REBEL REBEL!

David Bowie is amazing, for me it's actually Ashes to Ashes, by David Bowie.

EDIT: Coldplay is cool too.

Listening to Devil's Son by DevilDriver has never failed to put me in a good mood. It's also the only song that I can't resist head banging to. Wherever I am. It can be embarassing sometimes. =P

Bowie can go on my list of 'those' songs too.

The Stranglers - Golden Brown
Voltaire - When you're evil
The Zombies - She's not there.

To name a few.
