Does it still count if I refuse to wade through the human filth that is Wal-mart?

Seriously, I will not go in there, and if there is ANYTHING I need from there, Ill pay someone else to go pick it up for me from there(thats what little sisters are for right?)

Anyway, Ive worked in retail so I do exhibit some levels of respect. For example if I go shopping at a place that has outdoor cart deposit, I will typically bring a cart in, regardless if I need a cart or not. If I change my mind on a potential purchase I wont just cram it in the closest end cap. Ill walk it back to where I got it from. Now as for interacting with people, I try to keep my interactions as brief and BAU as possible. However I will start to get disrespectful when I make it abundantly clear I do not wish to participate in pointless idle banter but the clerk refuses to get the hint. So in that respect I am disrespectful.

I have good respect for the people working at Wal-Mart, just trying to make ends meet. I have less then zero respect for the majority of people who shop at Wal-mart. I'm a K-mart man....(Just kidding)

Respect? No. Nothing in the store or the people there rate high enough on my personal scale for me to actually respect them. However, I don't do those things because I am not a *****.
Pretty much this. I've got a pretty high bar someone has to reach to earn my respect. What you're talking about, on the other hand, is just "don't be a complete waste of human flesh." When I see people acting like that, I usually hope to myself (once in awhile, I'll even say it aloud) that something horrible and completely disproportionate happens to them (usually "getting the plague"). If they can't be arsed to pay attention to the people around them, then, by my estimation, they're not worth the biomass they're made of and need to stop wasting my oxygen.

In my line of work, as a Public servant in times of Duress (flood and road crash rescue) I need to both show and been shown alot of respect, as when I don't things go wrong, the community stop listening to me when I give them advice and generally, it makes life harder if you don't have or give respect.

So yeah, I show respect in that I don't disparage customer service workers, as I would expect if you were in a situation where I work, you damn well better show me some respect

So people who work in retail deserve no respect at all? Thats odd because i believe all people until they prove otherwise deserve atleast a small amount of respect or thats just how i treat people. common courtesy and all that stuff.
Common courtesy is all well and good. I treat respect as something you earn. Basically, I'm not going to go out of my way to cause you issues, but I also don't put any particular value on you. You're, essentially, a non-entity. Respect is a state above the norm, no one starts there.

often i grab stuff as i go, then get halfway through the store and go "wow a cart would've been helpful..." then often foolishly stagger in the direction of a cart to deposit my things in.

you'd think i'd learn but i do it nearly every week
me too :D

but to the topic, Nope, I don't do any of those things hell I even try to fold back the cloths I brows...but I suck at it so there is always some there after me refolding them.
