Just wondering how many people love to picture things, places, or people. Also, can you imprint something as an actual 3D object into your environment? (For example, can you imagine a pistol in your hand and turn around and look at it from any angle? Even further, can you interact at least somewhat realistically with said imagined object in your hand like pulling the slide back?)

I'm assuming most people can do this but I don't know. I don't what limits people usually have when it comes to their imagination if they even have them at all.

I will say that i can imagine pretty well, give me a description and I could make a detailed picture in my mind, I could imagine a object in my hand and imagine what it feels like, like you described.

It does have its advantages, while i don't like reading whenever it is required by any kind of school work it makes it easier to be able to picture it vividly.

Also when I am bored and have nothing to entertain myself with i could imagine some thing to pass the time, it is actually kind of a curse since a mind numbing task will not get done because the only way to not get distracted is to not think, and I can't not think.

Hm. Describes me very well.

I think alot about business and I think that is a type of imagination.
Like, what will the website look like, and how will each page link to another

Also before going to bed I do yogasutra.
I am getting pretty good at imagining how warm and heavy my body parts are.

How do you think I managed to pass my chemistry degree?! Syntheses were all pictured as single stoichiometric molecular interactions, replete with sound-effects and sparks!

Anyway, for the most part, I think to myself that without my imagination, I genuinely wouldn't have much going for me. I enjoy imagining stuff, but when its described for imagining purposes, it usually comes out shit in my mind. I prefer freedom...

Best is listening to contemporary instrumental music and imagining a fight... that's quite a lot of fun.

No...

But thanks to the webberverse I imagine visions of

rather frequently.

OT: I think what you are describing if I am not mistaken is spatial orientation.

If it weren't for me getting my imagination juices flowing regularly, I probably would have gone clinically insane a long time ago. So yeah, a lot. Don't think I would ever put these ideas down though, I don't know how good I am at actually making things.

People have already pretty much said exactly what I would have to say.

Part of how I judge good music is when it goes right into my imagination gland, I just close my eyes and watch.

And the reason I like night shifts so much is I can imagine some Dead Spacey scenario, holding the flashlight like a plasmacutter.

And I still have an idea for a novel, with several characters and plotlines thought out, but haven't written down any of it.

I also read a lot, and really enjoy doing camera angles and stuff for book scenes in my head.

So, yes, I guess?

I have a pretty vivid imagination. Back when I was a kid playing with toys like Legos and action figures, the scenarios I came up with were simply epic. Today I still can imagine lots of stuff and can picture just about anything if given a small description, or make my own if given no information.

I often imagine drifting through space. Seeing the stars and planets, the supernovae and the magnetars. Breathing in the dust that formed us all and experiencing the seemingly ever continuous scale of the universe.

I often imagine living in fantasy worlds.

Like Shingeki no Kyojin.
I wanna be an action hero so bad some times, but I'm a bit of a punk XD
Better off as a Keyboard Warrior.

My imagination runs while so I'm often times imagining things at least 16 of the 24 hours there are in a day. I'd say 24, but I don't remember my dreams at all. :p

I have a very vivid imagination.

How detailed the things I imagine are primarily depends on my attention span.

I tend to get carried away, so it's difficult for me to focus on just one thing.

More like spatial visualization. But yeah, I'm pretty decent at creating images in my head. I daydream a lot.

Whenever I'm doing something that doesn't require my complete attention, my imagination wanders.

When I'm trying to fall asleep, I'm hanging out on a pirate ship smelling the ocean and the unwashed bodies, feeling the pitch of the ship. Or I'm standing at the windows of a spaceship watching the stars blur by as I have conversations with the crew members. When I'm on the treadmill listening to music I'm sword fighting, or doing other things with my opponent... I imagine everything, smell, touch, sound, taste and of course sight. If I'm bored with where I currently am I just whip up a completely different universe, decide who I am and why I'm there, and I go with that. I've always done it. It's fun!

I usually just imagine hurting people. That makes me sound like a psychopath, whatever. I had this day dream while I was at work. I had a nice little fantasy about rounding up all the stupid people from Youtube. I blind folded them as they stood there in a row. Then I had notes pinned to their chest of whatever hateful comment they decided to spread. I mowed them down with a machine gun.

Yes I can, although to have "feeling" or other senses with the imagined object or scenario I'd have to have experienced it in real life first. I can't "feel" an imagined gun if I've never held one before for example.

It makes studying a ***** though...

Waaaay too much. I mean, when you can decide to drop everything and just be anyone from Commander Shepard to Tony Stark to Daenerys Targaryen in the blink fo an eye, what else would you want to do with your time?

There's a quote that the holodeck would bet he last think humanity would invent. What happens when you've got one in your head?
