To a certain extent, yes. Everybody makes the occasional typo, but a lack of punctuation, capitalization and general coherence is usually the mark of a f-cking idiot.

You're wealthy enough to have access to a computer, you're presumably educated. Have respect for the English language and your fellow posters.
My thoughts exactly.

if it's a few words and every now and then, nah. I let it slide. If it's constant to the point where it's obvious they can't put together a proper sentence...then i get irritated. And if they type in cell phone text, then i get pissed off.

Sometimes, mainly if they are saying something stupid, or something I don't agree with. Being a member of the CoD community and spending a lot of time on Youtube comments, I tend to assume that everyone that 'tlk lyke dis' is pants-on-head retarded, as most of the vocal section of the CoD community are stupid 12 year olds.

[EDIT] I also hate it when Americans call me out for mispelling words like 'colour' when I have in fact spelled it correctly, as that's how it's spelled in Britain, where I live.

Yes, I tend to skip over posts or dismiss them when it contains words like 'u', 'lolz', 'wut' and so on.

This is something I've been trying to correct...as the reality is that the statement being made is no less valid than any other post. Still, it is hard to take anything written in the above manor seriously.

only if its bloody stupid spelling errors like saying 'teh' instead of the. complex words and similar sounding words like there which have many different meanings dependent on spelling can be forgiven as English may not be the posters 1st language.

but 'teh' is not even a word, unless you put it an a satirical sentence then you should go sit in the corner and leave the conversation to the adults.

It depends on the person... people who were raised under the same education system I was, yes... most likely.... I'll be a little more forgiving for others, but generally I tend to get a little disappointed with people's spelling in general.

sometimes if it looks like they just randomly mashed buttons like a monkey on a type writer.
for example I don,t mind stuff like: liek or teh but I hate stuff like fucking up basic grammar or 1337 5p34k I HATE it when people do that it makes them impossible to understand

Depends on the situation. If I'm doing a presentation and someone sends me something written in textspeak I'm going to completely write off giving that person anything important to do in future but on the internet I don't really mind.

You must be American and think English is the only language spoken in the World...
I'm american and speak french, spanish, and a little japanese. When I chat with my friends from mexico or france, I never see that kind of error consistently. Maybe a typo or mistake, but not like what he's talking about in the thread.

When I see it consistently in threads though, or on vent, or wherever, yeah it bugs me. In any language. If anything something like french or similar grammatical structures have it rough; they've got ridiculous amounts of silent letters.

I'm still mostly unfamiliar with Japanese, so I'll leave it at that.

If I have to crack open a "Texting for Dummies" to get what is written on a post, I ignore it. It's pure laziness more than anything, if you can't be bothered to use the language properly, I can't be bothered to read it. Occasional spelling mistakes are just that: occasional.

I absolutely do.

Not the occasional typo, anyone can make that mistake. I'm talking about the people who constantly misuse "there, they're and their," "your and you're," "two, too and to."

People who misspell common words like ignorant (ignarent), straight (stright, strayt) or you're (urr).

People who say "should of" as opposed to "should have." These ones are the worst. I just want to strangle every single fucking one of them!!

If you are completely incapable of expressing your opinion in a semi-intelligent and coherent way, why the hell should I take anything you say seriously?

I'm dyslexic, but I use a spell checker to make sure I'm spelling things properly.

It annoys me when certain things are spelt incorrectly, such as writing then instead of than. If I see that error, I usually either point out the error, or ignore the poster entirely.

No, I try to judge by the content of the argument.

But if their post is talking about how stupid I am, I will point out every fucking misspelled word in that ************! I can be petty.

Hmmm I'm not going to judge people because of that, but if it's something terrible that shows the person OBVIOUSLY doesn't give a crap about the way he or she writes, I just won't read it.

I tend to assess the importance of the information anyone is trying to convey by the care the person puts in communicating it.

No, or most of my friends would be dead by now.

I judge myself rather than anyone else.
