Do you know girls who like video games?

So the other day, I'm playing TF2 and 30 minutes in girl joins the server I'm playing and six people start freaking out/acting differently because "OMG A GIRL ON THE INTERNET". (Gladly, no people asking for "pix" or "a/s/l or anything like that)
With about 20 hours of play, and the first one to actually hear in TF2 (I have a few buddied from L4D) I didn't really pay any special attention.
I'm assuming the people of Escapist do play video games, guys and girls "if not then you like them enough to be here).
So, question in point:
Do you know girls who LIKE video games?
Not the people you see online but the among the people you interact with in daily life.
The only one I see are goth or Japanime people. (Probably gonna see some "You want video gamers, you get them that way")

I know many, including my sister. It has been quite awhile since the last time people online freaked out over the presence of a girl playing a video game, there are more out there than some males would think.

My sister plays WoW a whole lot, along with other games. She used to play PS2 and GC pretty much daily when she lived at home. All my girl friends also loved to play video games.

I've come a cross a couple of girls who don't mind video games, even seen a few who enjoy them on occasion. Never seen a girls gamer though, as in, plays them regularly or is willing to have a conversation about them.

Apart from myself (Do I really know myself? I can barely understand what I say/think half the time), and several other females I know on this forum who I know play games, I know perhaps... one other in meatspace. Haven't seen her in a while though...

Agreed. If equality is to be truly realised, it means not tripping fucking balls when a man/women goes against conventional gender roles.

My sister likes games, but's more of a watcher than a player.

I have a couple of friends who like 'em too. One of them knows Final Fantasy back to front, the other is quite the Gears of War player.
The Gears of War one being really small and thin never stops being funny to me.

I'm venturing into Games Workshop at the weekend to procure some paints for a project I'm doing, and I'm dreading it because I know at least one smart ass is going to sidle up to me to ask if I'm buying for my brother, boyfriend, cousin or father, just like when I bought The Orange Box in GAME. dkasflafsdfdfgsf.

Yes. And to point out why people keep asking this question I'd like to offer a theory. People are looking in the wrong games for girls to play with. Hyper masculine adrenaline fueled shooters on xbox live are places where you'll find very few (if any) girls. Turns out teabaggin' some froob appeals more to guys. Go figure.

Yes I know both girls in real life and online that play/like videogames.
I don't know why but considering how there is a majority of males in gaming somehow 3/4ths of my steam friends end up being girls...so odd.
