I suddenly find myself curious, I wonder how many entries The Escapist got for this position. 1000? 2000? 9001?
Obviously I'd have no way of knowing but I'd guess less than all of those. If I had to guess I'd say somewhere in the ballpark of 100.
Agreed. Between people not fitting the requirements for the position, and more importantly, people simply missing the advertisement for the position, AND people who might have submitted their reviews incorrectly by accident, I'm there can't be more then about 100 contending applicants, give or take 50.
and lets not forget that the first 4 pages or so of the form were Canadian's and non-american's upset that they weren't able to apply. So that take a huge chunk out of the numbers

Well, I suddenly feel a bit better about my odds.

That means nothing except that the people who responded first complained about not being able to entering. As one who gave a try at this, I haven't posted anything until now.

If I were to give a rough estimate of the number of people who entered, I'd say no less than 500 applicants. Many people read the Escapist, and that includes Americans. I assume many people threw their hats in. Whether they were good applications or not, one cannot know.

I wouldn't say five hundred applicants, but I would give it more than a hundred. The Escapist is a popular website, but I don't really think it's popular for anime.

My postponed senses are tingling. :D

Will we see the results within the next month? Or am I just really oblivious and the results are already out? Either way, just making sure I'm up to speed.

no sign the results are up yet. If they are, they're hidden really well. Still hoping to hear which two lucky entrants get the job!

Yeah so they're taking their sweet time with this one eh? The results really aren't up. What's it been, somewhere in the realm of two months?

Actually, a bit over two months now. Of course, if you figure, say, 70 days, and, to shoot right between the guesses of 100-500 submissions (after weeding out non-Americans), let's say there were 280 submissions (for easy math). That means they would have gone over 4 reviews a day. Doesn't seem like a lot, but then they have to take their favorites, compare them, and repeating that until they have the 2 chosen people. That, and the escapist probably only has a couple people working on this, so it's quite the work load.

With that said, I've been checking the site daily for the last month, giddy with hope at every new message I receive, hoping. Clearly I am not as patient as I make myself sound...

Anyone else think they may have just forgotten about this? They are really taking their time with this thing.

It's possible that no one fit the bill and so they gave up, but it's interesting that there hasn't been any announcement to that effect.

curses! I love Death Note and Princess Mononoke. I could wax eloqent about them for hours! Sadly, I fall just short of the age requirement. So close, and yet so far.

I would love to do something like this, but I can be really biased towards things that I love or hate.

So, should we take a betting pool on when they make the announcement?
I'll take your bet, Trigger happy.

Here's the system I propose:
Specific date: 50:1 (Because those odds are phenomenal)
Specific week: 20:1
Specific month: 6:1
Specific half of the year: 2:1 (As in, before summer or after)

You can only make ten bets, and if you bet in a certain category you don't get all the odds after it, example being if I called May correctly, I wouldn't get the payout for the half of the year either. I hope you get the idea.

I'll put my (Fictional) $10 in on May. Payout is 6:1, as stated before. Think of it as betting on black in the roulette.
