Do you like any games that are widely hated

Do you like any games that have widespread scorn. Not really for me, unless you count COD or Halo, but there are about as liked as hated. Also Resident Evil 5, yes sheva's AI is crap, and the inventory system needs an overhaul, but overall it's a pretty OK game. Also Oblivion.

It's actually my first JRPG (unless you count Valkyria Chronicles) and I quite like it, too.

There is another one. I think it's called Urban Chaos, it play a bit like GTA mixed with Tomb Raider, it was critically panned but at the time I thought it was great.

And FIFA 11. A lot of people say sports games don't change much year by year blah blah blah. The changes are quite significant in the FIFA series since 09, and people never seem to complain something like CoD or Halo never really changes.

Final Fantasy X-2

The mechanics were closer to the classic FF setup than X was, and as such was a really enjoyable game if your into spending some time doing sidequests.

...although, you did have to turn it down during the singing cutscenes.

People here love demonizing them. I just simply love the games.

Edit: I'll just add all the modern FPS as well. Sure they're are tons of them, but I cant get enough of it... well so long as its good.

What can i say? I'm a sucker for the hack-and-slashy-button-mashy. It's pure mindless fun, i like to slay legions of baddies. It might be shallow, but i don't care. I like to feel powerful.

I don't think that's people in general, just people on these forums. Most people love those games, as do I. But people here like bashing things that are popular (ie make a FF7 thread and it'll be filled with people hating on it).

FF13, I completely agree people are WAY to harsh on that game. Sure it's not as good as 7-10, but it was fun nonetheless. I definitely thought it was superior to FF12

Are you kidding? From what i've seen, nearly everybody on the Escapist is just as smitten with FF7 as anyone else. Though i think that might be because this forum is full of "golden age gamers", something FF7 was on the cusp of, as it was the first 3D Final Fantasy. It's like Goldeneye; people will love it because it was revolutionary for its time.

Though there is a strong feeling of general cynicism and zeitgeist within the community. I think a lot of people like to be esoteric, so they rip on things that are popular and doing well for themselves. Sort of like a hipster, except they don't say "i used to like X before it became popular", but that has a lot to do with the stereotype of your typical COD or halo fan. Just go on the Bungie forums, you'll see what i mean. ( "-BLAM- U BUNGIE -BLAM UR FACE" )

I hate everything and everyone equally all the time. That being said; No I dont hate any games, I maybe would if I was forced to play one, all the time. But that not being the case, no, and I can't see why anyone would.

Sure there are games I dont like, but I just avoid playing them.
