Mirror's edge. I really liked it and found it quite intuitive once you get the hang of it. Some stages are prone to bouts of frustration, but by and large, I found it to be one of my favourites.

Well, I liked all of the games mentioned so far that I've played... (especially tired of people hating on JRPGs)

I also liked Fable, Epic Mickey, love the Assassin's Creed games, Bayonetta, Tales of Monkey Island, The Metal Gear Series (4, 2, and Twin Snakes get a lot of hate), Devil May Cry 4, and Super Paper Mario.

I also want to mention Alpha Protocol again because apparently people didn't understand how to play it, it's an RPG not a shooter guys.

Far Cry 2

Yes, it has its flaws and is rather repetitive, but I'd be damned if I tried to say I haven't had a hell of a lot of fun playing that game.

I enjoyed StarFox Adventures, heck, I even finished it like 3 or 4 times.

Metroid Other M. Yes, Samus is a whiney *****, but the game is still fun and it has great graphics.

I liked Epic Mickey when I rented it, I know it has a terrible camera system and the review of The Escapist focuses quite a lot on the reviewer's incompetence using the Wiimote more than reviewing the game itself.

I loved Aliens vs. Predator 2010 (PC), I know is quite hated on consoles, but I find the PC version quite decent and the multiplayer is a lot of fun.

Resident Evil 5. I still think 4 is better, but I liked 5 for moving the (batshit crazy) story forward and because it was quite fun.

I liked Final Fantasy VIII a lot more than Final Fantasy VII.

Metal Gear 2, I finished it like 6 times. I also liked The Twin Snakes a lot more than the original version.

Fallout 3 & New Vegas. I actually had a lot more fun with those than with the original games. And yes, I finished both FO 1 & 2. There, I said it.

Final Fantasy 13. People hate on it way too much; it was one of my favorite Final Fantasy's really...
Ninjaed... ten hours ago. Ah well.

Yeah, I thought FF 13 was quite good. I wouldn't call it my favorite (that's FF 7) but it's in my top 3 (FF 7, 10, 13). The gameplay was fun (not great, but fun) and it had some of the best character development in the series.

Seriously, I HATED Hope for the first half of the game. And then... he grew as a person. He became someone I respected and liked. Every boring trope character transformed over the course of that game into someone I cared about. I have never felt that much for a cast of characters - Heavy Rain didn't even come close to the relationship I formed with the cast of FF 13 (and I liked Heavy Rain).

I honestly don't understand the hate.

Deadly Premonition.

It's awesome.

Also, Call of Duty. Yes, the plot may be absolutely insane and just plain stupid, but the actual elements used in the storytelling are unrivaled.
The set-piece battles are truly impressive, and I think everyone remembers Modern Warfare's campaign really fondly.
Says the guy with a Dale Cooper avatar. I kid, I liked it too. The devs knew it was bad and designed around that fact to camp the hell out of it. Mr. Stewart, anyone?
OP: Record of Agarest War. It was a solid SRPG. I don't understand the hate it gets.

Go to any elder scroll forum or even just here and the second you mention oblivion, you will get a post about why morrowind is better even though that comes purely down to opinion.

Call of Duty World at War.

Even the majority of CoD fans will say that "OMGZZ DIS GME SUXX WRSE THN COD4 ONLY GUD THING WAZ NATSI ZOMBIESSS!!! WW2 SUX!!! MODERN WRFARE SOO TOO MUCH BETTR!!! MP40 IS BGGST N00B GUN EVR!!!!"

Toss the MP40 aside (it was rubbish at long range anyway) the multi-player component of the game was a lot better designed than CoD4's. The knifing was nerfed, quickscoping was a lot harder and I thought the maps were a lot better too.

Also I LOVED Mirrors Edge. One of my top 10 games of this generation.

The latest Medal of Honor. I enjoyed the SP campaign, and think MP is a blast. But this title seems to generate raging hate amongst gamers.

All the mentions of FF13 are making me sad. Looks like Square will get to continue their BS until the end of time.

OT: Deadly Premonition. If you can actually not laugh at the cut scenes you deserve a medal.

COD4 and GTA4 (Original not the expansions/DLC) both awesome games, far mroe intelligent than people give them credit for.
What are you talking about? I have never heard anyone bash COD4.
They are going off of "escapist attitude" = general gaming community consensus.

COD vs. Halo is where this comes from. According to those two Killzone is a more appropriate title for this thread. I don't know many killzone fans at all but know quite a few people that dislike the series.

I guess Tomb Raider for me. I am happy as shit about the reboot though. I've been pining for it for years. Every sequel gave me hope. Especially, Underworld. Although I still enjoyed them even though they didn't deliver.
Tropico 2 as well. I won't even defend it.

Too Human (looting; love the plot; Baldur is actually a great character), and Kane and Lynch (love those characters; love the grim and nihilistic mood; 1 had a great story and memorable missions except for Cuba; 2 had intense shootouts where you're vulnerable even behind cover).
