Do you like being right?

When you're arguing on the internet with someone, isn't it always a great feeling when they say something and you can basically have an "OBJECTION!" moment and throw out the evidence that proves you right and them wrong?

...Me too.

I just typed up a long rant where I showed some guys that P4:A is canon, and also pointed out that while they attempted to argue that it wasn't, actually used non-canon terminology in their posts. Of course they haven't replied, so they're probably gonna try to argue, but I'm feeling pretty good right now :p

What are some of your stories in that regard?

I would like to have some special feeling when I'm right, but since that happens to be a constant state of being I'm afraid it does little for me.

Considering I'm always, 100% right, it no longer impresses me when something like your example occurred. It just gets boring, y'know?

Of course, I'm really hoping that you're gullible enough to believe that I'm right 100% of the time, otherwise this really doesn't work.

I do, I LOVE being right, but...
I find it more annoying when they refuse to accept the evidence given, argue the same old shit that you just countered, basically do what people on the internet do. So I have cut back on it a little.

I know an argumentative person IRL who pisses me off so much when I try to argue with him, because he will ignore 4/5 of your argument and evidence and try to harp on a not all that relevant point which he knows a little more about, totally ignoring the rest of the stuff that was actually important. I know someone like that here too, but I won't mention names.

So sometimes it is just not worth it, that said it doesn't stop me as much as it should ^.^

I like being right but apparently there is someone who supports the idea of a valve console and just won't accept the fact that I had better reasons as to why it should not happen.

I don't often bother much on the internet. People will use any excuse to start an argument, and go to any lengths to win it. It gets to a point where it's a war of attrition-Who's going to get bored first.

In real life however, I mostly hate being right, because I'm a cynic, and things would be much better if I wasn't right.

Well, being bested in arguments isn't exactly my favourite activity. Yes I like being right, perhaps more than the average day-goer, as I often get myself into arguments because they're fun, especially if I'm right and I win. I guess I also like correcting people, not just being right, and when people are just being plain stupid, I have to step in and educate them.

I've never doubted you.

OT: Being right seems to come hand in hand with a feeling of superiority and people looooove feeling better than others.

You know what? When I was younger, being right used to feel so good. Now that I'm slightly older, being right does not feel important at all.

Being able to skillfully evacuate myself from a stupid argument: that feels good.

No, because if I have to 'be right' it means I'm in an argument of some kind and I hate hate hate arguments, they stress me out so much.

What I like is everyone that I'm talking to agreeing with me already.

Yes, obviously, everyone does.

However, I (and probably not many other people) don't like thick-skulled morons. And/or trolls. And/or completely normal people because there are a few things we'd defend with similar moronicity if challenged with evidence. And half of the time, being right results in a confrontation with such people, and subsequently a migraine, which nobody likes.

Or, in a physical debate, you actually get to punch them. Except they're probably bigger because, you know, min/maxing.

The most glorious feeling in the universe is correcting someone that decided to jump in and correct someone. It's especially glorious if you're the person they were trying to correct, and you were right all along.

I don't really get a buzz from just being right, I don't tend to say things that are wrong, but if someone is being an arse about it then I love it!

I love being right and the sensation of winning an argument, IRL.

The internet...not so much. Sometimes if I know I've posted something even slightly controversial (or something someone will disagree with, rather) and I get that little yellow envelope, my heart sinks a little. I don't really like arguing over silly things in the forums.

The problem with the internet is that even if you are right, someone will always call you out on it... thats the problem with opinion based arguement... you 'fact' is sometimes disputed... or used definitions that arn't used by everyone... and the worse thing about arguing online is that people often take you out of context... that pisses me off!

I'm fine with being right. I would only say I like it when people notice that I'm right.

Depends on the situation and the consequences. For instance, if you suspect a sickly friend of having cancer, would you feel good to be right?

Showing up obnoxious douches on the internet is a good time to be right.
