I've never played a game by them, so I really can't comment too much on them.

Although, I knew a guy in college that is a huge Space Marine fan, so there's that.

Dawn of War 2's multiplayer is insanely underrated, and better than Starcraft 2.

Starcraft 2: I'll make this army and attack them.

Dawn Of War 2: I'll draw them into the fire of my heavy gun setup and block their exit with my melee, so I can go back with my bait and have them shoot too, while I capture other parts of the map with my scouts and I construct my heavy units.
Better? Not sure. SC2 has a lot of depth that you only can really notice after watching several pro tournaments. It's much more of "easy to get into, hard to master" game.

DoW2 on the other hand is much more complex from the start up, with heavy emphasis on territory control, slower pace and more tactical decisions throughout whole game rather than just "what build to go for".

Problem always was balance and matchmaking, before Retribution it was simply broken to the point a lot of people who wanted to establish some sort of community gave up on it. Some heroes were simply too powerful (Apothecary was stupidly strong early on, Ravener tunnels were sort of I WIN button, Mekboy/Tech turret turtling). By Retribution release there was simply not enough people playing the game to provide base for any sort of pro-scene.

The fact they removed base building also was part of cause many of original DoW scene didn't switch over. To make it worse SC2 beta started just before Chaos Rising was out and the attention moved towards Blizzard's product instead.

I used to like Relic a lot, and I would like them again if they would make more diverse games instead of just being "Games workshop; video-game division."

If they made another Homeworld, or Company of Heroes, I would love it, but it seems they are going to be stuck on milking the warhammer tit for a while yet.
There are rumors that their next game is going to be Company of Heroes 2. I really hope it is, since I loved the first one.

I'd like them a lot more if they would put the Adepta Sororitas into more games. Especially Space Marine's multiplayer.
The Bolter Bitches would be destroyed though.

how single player would be much more fun if it stopped trying to tell some other character's story and let you create your own with his own personality (and your own choice of endings based on his actions/personality).
Ultramarines don't have personalities. That's why they're the posterboys. They're so completely bland and uninteresting that you can throw them just about anywhere. They're the Bella of 40k, existing purely for self-insertion fantasy.

That's my point. There was a chance to apply a personality to one. Even if it was only choosing your character's speaking style, ala Saint's Row 2.

This is why Space Wolves would be so much more fun.

To me, Relic means quality. Not outstanding quality, but the fact that I know I'm getting what I paid for.

so.much.THIS, there's more to the 40k lore then JUST the Space Marines

I'm being realistic. It would take several hundred SOBs to fight off a squad of Space Marines. They have power armor and bolters, but they don't have the genetic augmentations.

Thankfully their new mini codex makes the nuns with guns into a more badass army than the misogynist force of Matt Ward.

:p 'realistic' and '40k' have little to no business in the same breath.

sides, your kinda forgetting one simple fact. Space Marines multi player is a 'catch all'.
there no 'bonuses' for picking one chapter over another, so adding the SoB would be just a different skin. cause i should be getting a melee bonus for rocking the Black Templar colors damn it!!!

Relic are one of my favourite developers, Space Marine included.

Now I just need to cover my ears, rock back and forth and pretend Soulstorm didn't happen.
Soulstorm was not by Relic if I remember correctly, it was by Iron Lore who even while making Soulstrom knew they are going out of business. But regardless it really was bad, Sisters of Battle how can you fuck up something like that.

I love Relic. I'm a big fan of 40K and Relic has portrayed the universe well. I do wish they'd use the more interesting chapters, like and of the first founding chapters OTHER than the Ultramarines. The Space Wolves and Blood Angels are two of my favorites and have so much more depth to them.

Homeworld was brilliant and Company of Heroes was a pretty fantastic game too. I haven't played much of the Warhammer 40K stuff. I think they're terrific developers.

I'd like them more if they made another Homeworld (or even Homeworld-style) game though.

The only two games of Relic I've played was Warhammer 40k and Company of Heroes. I thought both were ok but I don't really have an opinion about the developer.
Which 40k game, may I ask?
Warhammer: 40k Dawn of war. The first RTS type one that they released.
