Yaoi, when well written, can be entertaining and sexy as Hell. Most of it is crap, sadly, but there's some good stuff out there too.

So yeah, I'd say I like yaoi. Not ALL yaoi or even most yaoi, but the few good ones? Yeah. I'll bite.

Yaoi? No thanks, not a fan. Same goes for Yuri, and also your standard hentai affair (not that Yaoi is inherently hentai, but there's overlap).

I know people who are into it, good for them, I have no problem with it. It's just not something I find more enjoyable than awkward.

Also, I am confused by 'Not a pedo thread'...

Depends on what kind of yaoi. Just erotic pictures is nice, but not when it's some fanfic with overly "mangaish" art.

I dislike Yaoi, and also, I am confused that it actually seems to be the largest genre out of the main 3 in Fan Fiction, you would think that would go to regular Hentai.

My preference would probably be Yuri, due to three things:
1. The rule of Girl On Girl is hot
2. Generally better quality, it seems that smaller genres do end up with better quality for some reason, and this is no exception.
3. Fanbase gender equality, this may sound odd, but there is no term such as Yuri Fangirl or Yuri Fanboy, simply because it has about 50% of either. Yaoi has 90% Fangirl, and 10% Fanboy, while regular Hentai probably has 90% Fanboy and 10% Fangirl.

Not that I read Fan Fiction anyway, original characters is the way to go for me.

So [i/]that's[/i] what it means. I see it all the time on........ ummmm..... other sites, and I always stayed away.

So to answer your question, no.

I don't like it, because it ruins my favorite anime heroes. After all, there exists a famous phrase: What has been seen cannot be unseen.

I find it neither interesting nor titillating... So No.

I GUESS if it were a well scripted story with good pacing I might but it just sounds fetishistic. Which would be fine if I found that particular fetish enjoyable.

As a straight man, I do not.

Straight men are not allowed Yaoi no matter how much Marik Ishtar disagrees.
I'm a straight man and I love that video.
Then you are not straight, but bisexual.

Yes yaoi is most wonderful and i enjoy reading yaoi manga, watching yaoi anime (even if at times the plots become a little non sensical and seems).

Note: Why did you have to point out that Yaoi isn't pedo? I could see if you were discussing lolicon, but anyone who knows what yaoi is (or even just read the first post) would know it has nothing to do with it. Sure, you're not incorrect; but it's the title equivalent of saying 8x + 9 + 0. It's somewhat unnecessary.
I think you mean discussing Shotacon, the male equivalent of Lolicon. :p

Other than that, spot on. :p

OP probably just wanted to avoid the issue the 4 or so actual Pedo threads brought. Though, it didn't even need mention because Yaoi =/= Pedo. o_O

It's like saying "do you like porn(not a Pedo thread)". Considering what that would imply, it's obvious the two things have nothing to do with each other. :/

To clear up a misconception here... yaoi does not mean fanfic. Yaoi is a genre of anime/manga stories, the same as say, giant robots, historical fantasy, comedy or magical girls. Yaoi can be as detailed, beautiful and nuanced as any story... or not. It depends on the writers.

Fanfics taking established characters and pairing them off in unusual ways is slashfic. Which may or may not be yaoi.. It can just as easily be yuri or straight pairings. These are fairly often bad, but not universally so. Like any other fanfics, the quality can vary.

And for the record, I love yaoi. What's not to like about beautiful boys making googly eyes at each other and falling in love? Unfortunately, non consenting (at least at the start) relationships are a very common theme, which I find quite uncomfortable. Forcing someone to fall for you/be physically intimate and then having them eventually decide they like it sets a bad precedence... That generally is not how such things work out in real life.. More often they end with the police being called.

I have to admit, the video made me LOL but still, I came here to look what "Yaoi" actually was, and now I know, I'm not interested.

As long as it figures into a good story, yes. Otherwise it might as well just be fetish porn or a series of pinups. When it feels so forced like that, it loses it's appeal, the whole touch of boy-love.

A FAVE-orite of mine is a great story/series called "Boy Princess". I highly recommend it to anyone. It mostly builds around political intrigue between two nations and all manner of back-stabbing between families, but the relationship between two princes and their confused difficult romance is great, filled with subtle tension and some adorable moments anyone who's ever loved someone "difficult to be close to" can relate to handily.

I'm a guy with a boyfriend. What do you think?

No. Ha, got you there! Guys are easy anyway, so it's not like there's anything new for me to see.

Despite what most people here seem to think, Yaoi isn't fanfic. I mean, people can make yaoi fanfics, but it's not always. In fact, it's a pretty large genre in Japan (mostly appealing to young adult women, oddly). But it's its own genre with its own standards and what-not. It's also typically about girl-boys, so Goku and Vegeta would not count...

But anyway, yeah, I like it.

I only like actual yaoi, that's written by an actual author. Fanfics should all burn in hell, and the ones who make a straight character gay go right to the lowest level.
