Salutations, fellow Escapists! I am incredibly bored today, so I could think of nothing better than asking random people on the Internet what their opinions on their given names are.

Personally, I like my name a lot. So, what about you? Do you think your name is the best name anyone could have ever given to anybody else in the history of forever? Or do you despise it with a burning passion?

Daniel

It's not a bad name; "dan" is nice and concise, while "danny" sounds cute coming from a girlfriend. It supposedly means "God is my judge" in Hebrew, which sort of fits an ideal that is very important to me, that is to not judge others regardless of how much you disapprove with their actions (Only God, if he even exists, should : \).

It's not the best name I could hope for, but it's certainly not one to complain about.

Ashley

I have one of the most common names on the face of the earth, just short of John and Dave.

I don't like my name, but sometimes people call me "Ash" which is slightly less common and reminds me of that Red wannabe from the Pokemon anime.

McKinley.
Fine last name, but a kind of awful first name. I mean, it really just doesn't roll off the tongue. Hell, when my grandpa heard it for the first time, he said "Pick another name."
I wish people would call me by my way cooler middle name, Wray, but that never caught on. If I could change my name, I think I'd go with Layton. It was my pop-pop's name, and although I never met him, it's got me convinced he was a pretty cool dude.

"Calvin" usually go by "Cal"

I mean, it's my name, so I guess I like it.

It literally means 'bald' in Latin I believe, so I guess that's the only downfall.

I have a very common name.

It's good because it's easily identifiable and can't really be misspelled.

It's bad because every fifth guy has my name. There are always at least two of us at work/class/wherever.

S'alright, I suppose. I can't really think of (normal) name that I'd rather have, but I'm not in love with it.

My last name, though. I don't hate it, but it's a little unfortunate.

(Not too keen on throwing it out to the wind though, so :p if you wanted to know what it was)

William.

Pretty sure my dad named me after William Shatner seeing as He's a big fan of Star Trek. Don't know for sure though.
The only time I dislike my name is when people call me Bill. I will never understand why Bill is short for William.

So I like my name most of the time.

It's too common. My middle and last names are just as common. I've met four people with my same first and last name. I've actually met someone with my entire name.

My brother fucking hates being called Danny. People do it to him a work he bitches to me all the time. And to be honest it's kind of weird because my friend Troy's wife is name Danny. Anyway on topic.

My name is David, but I tend to just go by Davy. It's fine I guess I never had any complaints I guess in old English it means beloved. I guess I can kind of see that with king David and all.

Indeed I do. People have tried to call me Ash before too, but it always makes me feel like a pokemon trainer.
You two could go by Ashe instead and pretend to be

Or I suppose

Or... somebody else with that name I guess.

Dylan.

Not a big fan of it, no. Having a Scottish background, my dad wanted to name me Seamus (Shay-mus), which I would have dug.

Most people tend to refer to me by my last name, MacDougall, because they think it's fun to say. I don't mind it.

Only girlfriends are allowed to call me "Danny", nobody else!

I'm just glad I wasn't named Michael. It's such a disgustingly common name in the U.S.

I like Alex, it's quite short, so I don't usually get abbreviations I don't like.
