Do you like your native language?

My exams are imminent, and I find myself studying for my Dutch exam. In the midst of doing so, I am heavily reminded that I absolutely loathe the Dutch language. Every piece of grammar has its exceptions, and then those have exceptions too... And then even those have exceptions.

So, I ask you in an act of procrastination: Do you like your native language?

Well English is the only language I speak, so yeah, I like it.

It certainly makes getting things a lot easier.

You rarely get what you want.

Seriously though, English is a a very malleable language.

You can mix and match a lot of things that just aren't possible with other languages.

I love English - you can have so much fun with it. From the appeal of alliteration, to the ability to completely make up a word yet still have a entirely contranifious sentence, from it's standard prefixes and suffixes that mean that new words are easily concoctable, to it's colourful/colorful international variations

What, Welsh? No, of course not. The language is dying, and while that is a tragic thing, it also makes it incredibly impractical to learn. I could never get the hang of all those mutations either.

Fuck yeah! "Danish" is (i heard somewhere) one of the most difficult languages to learn

but yeah.. "Danish" dates back to the Vikings together with swedish, Norwegian and Finnish. so pretty fucking proud!

English is just a very easy language, easy to pick up and easy to speak.

As I've often said, Swedish is the language equivalent of the girl with too much makeup.

It tries to be proper and pretty, but overdoes it and just ends up weird.

In all seriousness, I like Swedish. It's so f*cked up so it's a lot easier to make play on words in Swedish than in other languages. Or at least that's what I tell myself to be able to sleep at night.
