Anyway, it depends on the combat and if the reward for doing so is good enough.

But other stuff it can be fun and relaxing, nothing better than listening to some nice music while you punch spandex wearing good guys in the face as a super villain (City of Heroes/Villains)

If I must solely focus on the grind it gets boring, even though it might give me a feeling of accomplishment. But if, for example, it is on a handheld like Pokèmon, I can watch TV at the same time so I get entertainment and the feeling of accomplishment at the same time. Which obviously is good.

I don't mind there being a grind aspect to games, but it's no fun for me when you have to do it alone. RPG's that require grinding sorta put me off, but games that have grind and are multiplayer are more tolerable. It's always fun playing with more people.

Yes, I do mind, there should be a way to make it less boring, like by destroying villages and maybe integrating the grinding with some story or quest and not just a quest like kill amount x of monsterspecies y, but more like fight your way through their camp, pillage, rape and plunder, burn their homes to the ground with your fireball spell and get the crystal that's the source of their power so you can use it for your own evil purposes...

Yes, I did go through all the trouble of killing 1000 gnomes on Overlord 2...
What? They started it! If a species is stupid enough to declare war on me like that, I gladly reward them with their extermination...

Grinding by its very definition is repetitive, therefore get old really fast, so if the whole game is built around doing the same thing over and over again, there is no way I can be okay with that, even if it's a really fun thing to do.

I'm going to have to grind for a while in order to beat yet another ridiculously tough boss in Final Fantasy 13. Why did they make that game soooo much harder than all of the previous ones? I mean, it's refreshing to have a challenge, but it can be really frustrating!

Do you mind if your Game has abit to much grind in it or is basicly straight grind? for some odd reason im ok with it.

It gives me a chance to cackle at the fate of hapless monsters who dare lash out at me.

I don't find MMOs a grind so long as the scenery changes and the enemies are varied. That said I've yet to reach endgame in WoW and the thought of running one instance over and over again is not inspiring me to rush to the level cap.

I did reroll my main in Fallen Earth after screwing up with the factions, because levelling up from 1 to 20 again was a more attractive prospect than shooting 5000 lightbearers in the face.

Grinding that requires me to make my own judgements of where to grind, how to grind and when to stop grinding I find very appealing. As long as the grind is used to subjectively decrease the difficulty of the game overtime then yes. If it's an arbitrary "kill x amount of enemies before the game becomes possible" then not so much. I just in general prefer the "level-up" style progression than the "you reached the next area" style of progression

I have noticed a lot of people complain about certain games requiring too much grinding, where in fact the only reason hey end up grinding so much is because they suck at the game
