Do you overstock on items

So I made it to the Blighttown Swamp bonfire in Dark Souls with about 3 Purple Moss Clumps left. I made it to Quealagg and died twice, and ran out of Moss. So I thought it would be a good idea to go stock up on them to be safe.

I ended up buying 44 of them, seemed like a good amount. I went back and beat her on my first try, only using 1 Moss in the process.

So now I have 43 Poison Moss sitting in my inventory, better to be safe than sorry!

Do you ever overstock on items in games, just to be on the safe side?

Pretty much the same thing, actually. Farmed the plant enemies in Darkroot Garden for moss clumps and ended up with far more than was ever necessary. Also whenever I have consumable items that are in limited supply. I almost never use them for fear of needing them later, which rarely turns out to be the case, so they go on to be wasted.

Unless it's something I absolutely know I might be needing later, I usually don't. I've been known to struggle through areas in games just with what the game gives me to avoid having to go back somewhere and restock or grind. Something about doing that has always felt sort of cheap to me personally.

I try to do it whenever I can, but it's most notable in Silent Hill. I refuse to shoot my gun unless absolutely needed and I refuse to use med kits unless I'm on red health. Luckily Silent Hill 3 practically requires you to use every bullet in the game to defeat the next boss so it likes me.

I may or may not have 99 lifegems, throwing knives, and black firebombs on my hotbar in dark 2 right now. You can't prove anything!

I already did this before every game had an auto health regeneration feature so you can imagine where I always end up sticking all those healing potions these days.
That's right. Up my inventory.

Same here, I always seem to overstock. Or just save up too much of what I find. In Fear I always had max health packs pretty much. In mmo's I always end up selling at least half of my potions/food because I can buy better already. In skyrim I tend to buy every health, stamina and mana potion I find in shops. Don't know why. And the list goes on.

Of course I stock up on items. You can never be too careful!

... What do you mean USE the items? But what if I need them later?! I have to keep all the potions and ethers for the last boss! I don't care if I die, I can't just USE all my items!

Wait so your telling me those "item" things have a use I thought they were just collectibles and the point of the game is get as many as you can. On a more serious note yes I overstock all the time and also tend to be reluctant to use consumable in almost any game.

It's actually pretty interesting when you run into that odd game that actually requires that you use those items you've been stocking up on. With most modern RPGs items tend to gather dust in my inventory, but occasionally there's an indie game like Aquaria where I'm actually forced to use them to restore health, power up attacks, boost defense, etc.

Yes, but only items I generally use.
Pretty much this answer covers me as well.
In Pokemon games, I tend to buy the max amount of Pokeballs I can, along with the max amount of revives and potions I can. In Final Fantasy games, I make sure to always get at least one piece of every armor in the game, which is a pain in the ass in Final Fantasy XII. For Skies of Arcadia...don't get me started on the item grind/purchases I do in that game... >.>

Intentionally? No. I still do it a lot, though. I'm always paranoid that I'll sell or drop something that I need later on, and that doesn't just go for quest items. As a result, when people see my inventory, they question why I hoard so much.

I saw this from the sidebar (recent topics, or whatever it's called), so I thought it was going to be about toilet paper or something.

In games? Not usually. There are instances where I do, which may be either due to difficulty or simply the utility of something.

Most games, I just don't feel the need. Often this is because I don't need the items I do have, because they're given away like candy, or because they're too good to waste. That last one's more rare, but still.

Most RPGs I barely using anything other than the basic healing item, and even that may not be all that necessary.

If I feel I need something enough to buy it, there's a good chance I will buy more than is necessary, but I rarely feel that need.

By and large, yes. My general rule for RPGs is to have plenty of healing items, but use magic to heal, saving the healing items for when they are absolutely necessary. I tend to have plenty of healing items as a result. I especially stock up on status removing items though, as spells that heal negative status tend to be a bit less common. Generally speaking, you will rest and restore HP and MP at some point, making it a renewable resource, healing items are not so easily acquired.

Notable exception being the Suikoden games where taking stacks of Medicine to use to heal between battle is a must. MP is much more limited in Suikoden and much harder to restore as well.

I don't usually overstock on items, but I definitely have "too good to use" syndrome.

In dark souls 2 I have not used a single healing item other than estus and the basic life gems. I probably have 20 elizabeth mushrooms on each character which will never be used, same with divine blessings and any other health consumable item. I'm also pretty sure I haven't used a single urn or firebomb that I've picked up.

Oooooh yes. I'm nearly a hoarder in games that have supplies and consumable items like that. I get antsy if I can't always keep all of my supplies in the double-digits at all times.

almost always, pretty much never use all the robo-shark launchers and heat-seeking ass obliterators, i also stick to the pistol or something lame like that hoping the next big boss will actually require the use of those super weapons and ive ran out of ammo
